The Super seeds:
1. UCLA 196.875
2. Alabama 196.85
3. Florida 196.775
4. Utah 196.625
5. Oklahoma 196.55
6. Stanford 196.3
The Super draw: UCLA will start on vault in the first round of Friday's Super Six team final, Florida will begin on bars, Stanford on beam and Oklahoma on floor. Utah and Alabama will have byes before bars and floor, respectively.
This is great for UCLA, which gets to end on floor, where the Bruins have the best choreography and also perhaps the best routine in junior Brittani McCullough. It's not awesome for Alabama, which will have to wrap up its Super Six on balance beam. That's not the easy way to win an NCAA team title.
Gym Examiner's prediction: UCLA takes the Super Six, followed by Florida and Alabama. Why? UCLA is the best team on floor and they have a huge advantage in that they end the meet on floor. The hit routines mount, the scores mount, the excitement mounts and the crowd gets into it. Alabama, meanwhile, is in the dreadful position of ending on beam. Championships are extremely hard to clinch on beam.
Despite some softness in the middle of the lineup and performing in the afternoon session during Thursday's team qualifications, the Bruins were able to maintain first place. I never trust a team to hit perfectly twice in a row because there are too many variables. Which doesn't apply here, as all teams had errors during the first day of competition. Therefore, all teams should do better today. UCLA was top of the heap even with mistakes and will stay there.
Individual event finals qualifiers:
Vault
1. Mary Atkinson, Arizona State
2. Morgan Dennis, Alabama
3. Blair Ryland, Stanford
4. Marissa King, Florida
5. Brittany Skinner, Nebraska
6. Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs, UCLA
7. Lora Evanstad, Nebraska
8. Ashley Lee, LSU
9. Susan Jackson, LSU
10. Kylee Botterman, Michigan
11. Ashanee Dickerson, Florida
12. Vanessa Zamarripa, UCLA
13. Mandi Rodriguez, Oregon State
14. Geralen Stack-Eaton, Alabama
15. Anna Li, UCLA
16. Sarah Shire, Missouri
17. Britnee Martinez,
18. Allison Buckley, Illinois
19. Jaime Pisani, Arkansas
20. Sharaya Musser, Penn State
Gym Examiner's prediction: Zamarripa, followed by Jackson, and, oh what the heck, Dickerson. Zamarripa is the only one to have a second vault as good (or better) than her first, Jackson is the stud of the meet and Dickerson is the home favorite.
Uneven bars
1. Anna Li, UCLA
2. Kayla Hoffman, Alabama
3. Susan Jackson, LSU
4. Daria Bijak, Utah
5. Carly Janiga, Stanford
6. Hollie Vise, Oklahoma
7. Kassi Price, Alabama
8. Maranda Smith, Florida
9. Amanda Castillo, Florida
10. Summer Hubbard, LSU
11. Casey Jo Magee, Arkansas
Gym Examiner's prediction: Li, Vise, Janiga. Li, despite having to go first, is the class of this field. Vise would be able to tie or win this event if she were dismounting with something harder than a double tuck. Li will have to be great, though -- if she doesn't stick her double layout dismount, my prediction becomes Vise, Li, Janiga.
Beam
1. Casey Jo Magee, Arkansas
2. Geralen Stack-Eaton, Alabama
3. Kelsey Knutson, Michigan
4. Kyndal Robarts, Utah
5. Jamie Deetscreek, Utah
6. Courtney McCool, Georgia
7. Ashley Priess, Alabama
8. Brandi Personett, Penn State
9. Carly Janiga, Stanford
10. Susan Jackson, LSU
Gym Examiner's prediction: Priess, McCool, Magee.
Floor
1. Morgan Dennis, Alabama
2. Makayla Stambaugh, Oregon State
3. Brandi Personett, Penn State
4. Annie DiLuzio, Utah
5. Marissa King, Florida
6. Sarah Shire, Missouri
7. Ashanee Dickerson, Florida
8. Brittani McCullough, UCLA
9. Vanessa Zamarripa, UCLA
10. Hollie Vise, Oklahoma
11. Jaime Pisani, Arkansas
12. Natalie Beilstein, Michigan
13. Casey Jo Magee, Arkansas
Gym Examiner's prediction: This one is very tough. McCullough, King, Vise. McCullough is the complete package on floor. Personett's full twisting double layout is one of the best ever performed, but she hasn't shown awesome control on the landing and also risks going out of bounds. Dennis is deserving of a great finish but is unlikely to be helped by being first up. Vise, never ever mistaken for being a power gymnast, has done very well this year and has an extremely complete routine with choreography that fits her perfectly.

All I have to say is Go Vise! I still love her gymnastics.
I would love to see Li win bars!
Also, Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs is the anchor on floor for UCLA, not McCollough (who has an awesome routine!).
Thanks, GoBruins! The page has been modified. -- Blythe
