Olympic stars, newcomers shine at Chinese National Games

A mix of Olympic champions and talented newcomers are winning the individual titles at China's 11th National Games in Jinan, Shandong Province.

Olympic stars He Kexin, Xiao Qin and Zou Kai each won the gold medal on their specialties (uneven bars, pommel horse and floor exercise and high bar, respectively), while 2008 Chinese Olympian Deng Linlin triumphed in the women's all around.

Newcomers Yang Pei and Tan Sixin won vault and balance beam, respectively, while World team member Sui Lu took home the title on floor exercise -- wearing socks, no less.

In the men's competition, the promising Feng Zhe won parallel bars, while Lu Bin won vault. Sina has more coverage, including some great photos of the athletes in action.

2004 Olympic pommel horse champion Teng Haibin won the men's all around competition with a combined score of 89.35, over Feng (89.1) and Lu Bo (88.475). Zhang Chenglong led the competition after five events but faltered on pommel horse.
