Are Olympic gold medalists Nastia Liukin and Evan Lysacek an item or aren't they?
All signs pointed to yes on Monday, when People Magazine released an article claiming that "the couple" confirmed they had been dating since last summer.
People then modified its story to say that Liukin was the one who confirmed the relationship, but the article is now running under the headline "Evan Lysacek and Nastia Liukin 'Really Close' Friends" and has been rewritten with the words "close friends" replacing the word "couple."
Hours after the initial People article was posted, The Huffington Post released a report of Lysacek's interview with "Entertainment Tonight" in which he called himself "single" and "lonely." Liukin also nixed romance rumors in December when she told the audience at a Cal State Fullerton gymnastics benefit that she did not have a boyfriend.
"The media: such a love/hate relationship," Liukin tweeted Monday night. "Wish people would just mind their own business."

I love Evan, have for years, ever since I saw him as a junior. I agree with Nastia though, people should mind their own buisness. As long as their both happy, what does it matter?
they are a couple. period. end of story.
Elizabeth, do you have a direct quote for Evan saying that? I'm just curious because Evan has said, recently that they're just close friends and that he's single.
Man how embarrassing, I think its obvious they are dating, however Evan is QUICK to say no even while Nastia said yes...poor Nastia to be so young and put herself out there to only have him refute it publicly...they should have gotten their story straight. Now Nastia has egg on her face.
Katrina Nastia does everything she can to bring attention to this relationship if she wants people to mind their business perhaps SHE SHOULDN'T GO TO PEOPLE MAGAZINE.
I am sick of the people defending Nastia when she acts like this.
Urg: I'm not defending her in any shape, just that I agree with that statement. I do think she's hypocritical.
Who else does Evan have by his side as his support system at the Olympics aside from his family? It's not a stretch to call Nastia as his companion.
They interviewed with People to do what? To confirm they're "just friends?" What a way to bring attention to their "platonic" relationship. Wouldn't laying low and keeping quiet have the same effect. But noooo, they have to do a joint interview announcing they're just bosom buddies. What's next? A report on their dutch lunch? Sheesh, People Magazine, did you have an intern do the interview?
