In the famous Agatha Cristie novel And Then There Were None a group of people on an island mysteriously begins to die off due to accident or foul play.
Thankfully, this is happening in real life today with state bans on carrying handgun guns for lawful purposes in alcohol serving restaurants. Last year Georgia repealed its ban on gun carry in restaurants, and after a historic veto override by the Tennessee legislature, Tennessee's ban dies on July 14, 2009.
That means there are only 9 states left banning gun carry in alcohol serving restaurants. And Virginia is widely expected next year to repeal it "restaurant ban" on concealed as its legislature has passed such legislation twice in the past 2 years only to be vetoed by Governor Kaine. Republican and Democratic party Gubernatorial nominees Bob McDonnell and Creigh Deeds both support repeal of the restaurant ban on concealed carry.
But unlike the world of novels, onerous restrictions on gun rights don't just mysteriously disappear. Gun control laws tend to have great inertia and it takes a lot of work to repeal them.
Action item: Even if you live in Virginia, if your state bans concealed carry in restaurants, don't count on the ban to just go away without your help. Contact your state legislators today and tell them you want your state's ban on concealed carry in restaurants repealed.

This is outstanding! The anti-gun crowd is losing credibility more and more. Their BS rhetoric just doesn't fly, when confronted with cold hard facts.

It's surprising that Virginia is behind on this issue (Repealing Restaurant Carry) as well as Castle Doctrine - two pieces of legislation that really need to be passed in the Commonwealth.
Take a moment to contact your legislators. Visit - legis.virginia.gov - for links to Virginia representative email contact forms and let them know that you want them to support your 2nd Amendment rights and that you support Restaurant Carry and Castle Doctrine.
Discuss these issues and others at the Virginia Gun Owners Forum www.VaGunForum.net .
Friday night is date night around here , North Carolina , and going to TGIF or FATZ for steak would be nice .
I wonder if the establishments know much business is lost every day from those that believe in the First and Second Amendments .
Any advocates of such a ban should look to the many states where permit holders are allowed to carry concealed in establishments that serve alcohol to see that they present absolutely no risk to the public.
My State of Alabama Pistol License has on the back
"4. Your pistol permit does not allow you to carry a pistol in any place that serves alcohol or while you are drinking or using any illegal drug."
Georgia repealed it's law on CARRY into a restaurant that serves alcohol.
You can carry openly or concealed.
