Why would Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore pledge servitude to a man who wants to ban their guns?

"Ashton Kutcher Tweets pic of his machine gun wielding wife Demi Moore," the UK's Mail Online "U.S. Showbiz" headline tells us.

Pro-gun celebrities? And hot, hip ones at that? That could be very helpful, PR-wise. So why must I look a gift horse in the mouth?

Both Moore and Kutcher are gun fanatics. The actor once revealed that he and his wife each bought pistols shortly after they married in 2005, something that has convinced him that neither one of them will stray.

"Fanatics"? Who would factor guns into their commitment to marital fidelity? Well, that's not very helpful. That and the Twitter message "This is why we don't mess with Mrs Kutcher," or the recollection "I actually took this boy that Scout was dating out at our place in Idaho and I would, like, carry the gun around at my side at all times just so he knew...subtle hints."

That's three implied non-defensive gun use "threats" in one brief article. Surely he's joking, but forgive those of us who routinely fend off accusations that gun owners are violent and trigger-happy for not chuckling along.

And then there's this photo caption:

Machine gun toting momma: Demi Moore looks like a pro as she fires a few rounds off at a gun range in Los Angeles yesterday

A machine gun? At a Los Angeles range?

According to the NFA Gun Trust Lawyer blog, that's not impossible, just improbable--for you and me:

Permits for Machine guns and DD's are controlled and at the sole discretion of the DOJ and are rarely issued to civilians or anyone who is not involved in the movie industry.

I can't tell from the photo, but I'm wondering if it's actually a (CA "assault weapons" bans-compliant) semiautomatic, and if this is actually another manifestation of "Authorized Journalists" falling for the Violence Policy Center's calculated misdirection to scare the ignorant into thinking they're one and the same.

The biggest disconnect, though, is the Kutcher's enthusiastic support for a man who has made no secret of his desire to ban the weapons they enjoy to own and shoot. If you want to see something really creepy, go to the 3:55 mark in this video:

I pledge...to be a servant to our president...

Gag me. And talk about having it exactly backwards.

I think we need to look for famous allies elsewhere. Not that the Hollywood power elite would let one emerge and not end up on their blacklist...

Kutcher has the I.Q. of a grape. I know that's an insult to all the grapes out there, but he clearly does not possess the maturity to wield a gun responsibly regardless of his actual age, humor aside.

Lastly, I pledge, to make another donation to www.keepazsafe.com to help Governor Janice Brewer win her fight against the government to secure the border and help keep Americans safe.

Because it is fun to shoot those types of weapons in the photo, it is just another form of entertainment if you can afford it.

Their support of Obama might be because of his unyielding support for the murder of the unborn, which has always been de rigueur for the Hollywood Left and the Democrat congress.

They are simply clinging to their guns and religion.

There you go again with your wrong assumption that someone cannot be pro-obama and pro-gun at the same time. As one of many in this category, we are not single issue voters. We just rolled our eyes when he talked about guns and hoped he was smart enough, and the opposition would strong enough, that he would never actually follow through on any of this. I think we were right in that regard.

For the rich & privileged owning whatever they want is a simple matter of who they know and can benefit in government. Whether Ashton has an I.Q. high enough to qualify as a grape is anyone's guess but it is clear they are sending the wrong message if htey think htey are being pro-gun. More likely they are being anti-gun in the hopes of using their "star" power to portray gun users as losers and imbiciles. The average gun owner is not a fanatic but just simply a person trying to equal the playing field with criminals and protect their family because there are less and less cops on the street. Look at the laundry list of crimes Oakland is no longer pursuing. Talk about giving criminalsa heads up on victims. In my personal opinion these are just two Hollywood idiots out to embarass every honest law biding gun owner with their macho displays and stupid statements. If they are truly on the gun owners side they would just shut up and go back to Montana and live quietly. Just losers.

The preponderance of Obama's anti-gun record is staggering. He doesn't have to say anything, not one single word. His actions speak volumes about his anti-gun philosophy which are of public record. I'll let the reader decide, read on:

Within 90 days, we will go back after kitchen table dealers, and work to end the gun show and internet sales loopholes. In the first year, I intend to work with Congress on a national no carry law, 1 gun a month purchase limits, and bans on all semi-automatic guns."

--Barack Obama, VPC Fund Raiser, 2007

Yes, an idiot, you truly are. He has done NOTHING to expand gun rights and has worked to limit them as much as he can. The only positive thing he did was expand sales.

  • Not an Idiot 1 year ago

    Hey Yes an Idiot,

Stop trying to change Obama's history on this issue. Just because Obama signed into law; guns in national parks, guns on Amtrak, and has restricted gun trace information from being used outside law enforcement; does not forgive his 2005 support for Ted Kennedy's amendment to Senate bill "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act" which effectively would have severely restricted or banned most if not all of the most commonly used ammunition in use today among other anti-gun support.

Perhaps over time he may become more moderate where gun control is concerned, but he has a lot of ground to cover to prove to gun owners he has changed. Personally, this is NOT change I can believe in so I'm not holding my breathe.

This only goes to show that an actor is only expected to exhibit enough intelligence to remember for a few seconds the lines somebody else put into his/her mouth. Go back and take a look at the re-runs of Those 70s Show if you can stomach them.

Look at the opposite of waht Obama says to be the truth. He says we are recovering from the recession, he says the stimulus created millions of jobs, he says he supports the Second Amendment. Look at his former votes on the Second Amendment issues. Look at the millions of unemployed, etc. LOLOL Only a fool would believe Obama at this point.

In Bill Maher's movie "Religulous", one clip is of an interview with a U.S. Senator in which, having been pinned down on an answer which makes no sense whatsoever, the Senator blurts out "There is no IQ test to be a U.S. Senator." I guess there is no such test to be a Hollywood celebrity either.

Calif. has the distinction of introducing Americans to the drug-induced, free-love ‘lifestyle’ of the 60's hippies. One result being a significant diminishment of American society as a whole.
Calif. also enacted a gun registration program on certain types firearms that led to some who did comply having their guns confiscated.
Rumor has it that Hollywood-produced movies are used as examples of American decadence as propaganda tools to fuel the ideological fires of jihad.
The election of a muslim-indoctrinated, black-liberation-theology influenced, Marxist-leaning, Chicago-thug politician with enough genetic characteristics to qualify in the minds of some as being ‘black’ was decidedly facilitated through theatrics and props in the same way actors and rock stars are promoted.
The Hope and Change vote exemplifies the fact that those who stand for nothing will indeed fall for anything.
People do what they do because they can, the only actual limitation is relative to physics.

From the pic, (and open to correction), appears Demi's posing with an AR-style rifle in .223/5.56 cal. with an M4 upper, collapsible stock and an EO Tech sighting system. If she’s ever actually pulled the trigger on it, judging from her stance, it’s most likely a semi-auto. That being the case, her head’s in a poor position for a good cheek weld, shoulder seems misaligned, she’s muscling her grip on the forearm instead of cradling it, and she’s in desperate need of someone who knows what they’re doing to show her how to actually make use of that otherwise worthless, drooping, sling-thingy.
If by some chance it is a FA and the idea is to let her go hot with live rounds, prudence would dictate mounting an expendable video camera on a tripod, ( you’d definitely want whatever happens on film ) removing all life-forms from the field of fire and having a trained instructor position himself directly behind her to take control when acting is superceded by lessons in physical reality.

I have a feeling that the "pledges" made by these Hollywood celebrities lasted about as long as a New Year's resolution. Still, it is chilling to see Demi Moore say that she will "pledge to serve my president".

Sounds like something a North Korean would say.

GWIII%- She's cross eye dominant, hence the messed up cheek weld. The 'chicken wing' right elbow isn't gonna help either.
Leave it to a EuroLib newsrag to call her a shooting 'natural'. There is no firearm culture in England,
the cops there shoot themselves instead of perps regularly. All of a sudden they're experts in technique?

Sorry, Bill, but your quote from "Barack Obama, VPC Fund Raiser, 2007" is phony.

    factcheck.org/askfactcheck/did_obama_promise_last_year_to_ban.html

I realize factcheck is an Annenberg creature, and I'm far from trusting it implicitly. But this quote fails the James Bond test: no public figure, especially a politician, gloatingly discloses his evil plans in a room full of strangers. There's nothing but downside to it. Now, if you find someone who can come up with a video of this speech, I want a copy.

Obama's voting record is sufficient to prove that before he got into the White House he voted against gun rights at EVERY SINGLE OPPORTUNITY. The fact that he since signed a few must-pass bills to which our friends attached pro-gun riders doesn't make him pro-gun, any more than his flag pin makes him a patriot. Who knows—perhaps he's banking on the UN Small Arms Treaty eventually coming along and wiping out all those minor concessions he was forced to make to us.
