Anti-gun New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg is crowing. Why?
[He] released a statement Thursday highlighting the results of a new poll that he said shows that members of the National Rifle Association support his initiatives to close the gun show loophole and terror gap and preserve gun sale records.
He's joined by (among many others in the "mainstream" press) anti-gun Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne, who writes:
[I]magine if NRA members were more reasonable than the organization's leaders and supporters in Congress in understanding the urgency of keeping guns out of the wrong hands.
NRA leaders, meet your members.
NRA has analyzed the poll and posted a comprehensive rebuttal to this Mike Bloomberg/Mayors Against (Your) Guns propaganda tool. Among their findings:
The poll didn't explain that the watchlist has been under fire by the Department of Justice's Inspector General's office and the ACLU for improperly including the names of innocent people, and that many innocent people have been mistaken for those who are on the watchlist...
The poll mischaracterized the issue of NICS record retention. Instead of informing poll participants that the accused Ft. Hood murderer had been investigated by the FBI and found to not constitute a terror threat months before he went through a NICS check to purchase the gun he allegedly used in the murders, the poll simply asked whether "the FBI should be able to access and keep information about gun purchases by terror suspects in cases similar to [the accused Ft. Hood killer's]?" Worse, Word Doctors misinformed poll participants by telling them that the accused killer was still under investigation at the time he purchased the gun...
Since Word Doctors had no access to NRA membership lists, there's no way the pollsters could verify that any of the "NRA members" actually were NRA members.
Go on over and read the entire NRA release. Then see what I had to say about it over at WarOnGuns.
And then spread the word. Because we can be sure agenda-driven politicians and their mainstream media allies are counting on their manipulative distortions being what reaches the public to shape opinions.
But don't take my word for that: Prove it to yourself.

'Gun Shots' reports on latest Holder anti-gun disclosures
John Haughey at Outdoor Life tells his readers about my report on AG Eric Holder's testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
This is what I mean when I ask readers here to spread the word--it's for damn sure the public won't be learning about such things if they rely on "Authorized Journalists." It's up to us to get the truth out there.
Click here to read Haughey's post and then take a moment to share it with your friends.

Comments
The whole anti-gun platform is based on half truths and outright lies. The media that goes along with this propaganda is committing treason by supporting attacks on the Constitutional rights of all Americans.
It's treasonous to the definition and profession of 'journalist' or 'reporter'...there is a scary trend that Journalism Majors (in colleges & universities) whereby the instructors are training them that the 'news is what you want it to be'. There may be an event that happens, but what really happened is not as important as what you think that event means or should mean to the readership/audience. This is where the News has gone woefully wayward. In an effort to 'meet their audience' where they are at, they have developed shortcuts in the rationale process that take the audience from event, to background, and how it impacts them in 30secs or less. Instead of reporting the news, they apply pressure to the facts to promote a position that they believe will be favorable to 'reasonable people, in reasonable times.' In doing so, they are able to shape public opinion by highlighting a perception of mainstream values. Remember, if you say something three times it must be true.
The left wing news media reflects the left wing socialist/marxist government agenda. Conversely the governments thoughts and agenda reflect the left wing news medias agenda. Therefore, when basically the government controls the propaganda machine the citizens thoughts are thus controlled by the government.
I've been an NRA memberfor in the neighborhood of 40 years. In that time I've seen many polls of "NRA members" that purport to show that NRA members don't agree with their leadership. Funny thing is that I've never been in the polling sample, nor do I know any NRA member that has been polled. Mark Twain once remarked the "figures never lie, but liars do figure".
Time to say it again. If you feel like you need to lie to advance your argument, like Josh Sugarman, Sarah Brady, and Mayor Bloomberg evidently feel they need to do, its because you feel that your argument can't stand upon the facts.
Dave Codrea, when SCOTUS incorporates the Second Amendment against the states and municipalities in McDonald v. Chicago, Mayors Against "Illegal Guns" will be as relevant as Tammany Hall. Because, their cities will have to abide by the decision.
If you think there was a gun-buying escalation a few months ago, wait until SCOTUS' ruling. People in big, medium and small cities and suburbs, will REALLY fuel the next increase in gunbuying.
I won't add more comments about the poll. I think we all know how phony it was. What does concern me is that Sen. Lautenberg (D-NJ) is using this poll to support legislation that he is pushing. The bottom line of some of his legislation, if passed, would deny US Citizens their Constitutional rights with no due process, no criminal conviction, no charges filed, and all done in secret with the victim denied any ability to appeal. Yet, these Dems screamed and hollered about terrorists picked up on the battle field and held at GITMO and their "rights". Sen Lautenberg and his legislation are about as un-american as it gets.
these liar`s need to be voted out, period!all we can do is to keep supporting our cause and the nra;so these idiots don`t get their way!i`am so glad i live in tampa, florida where i have my concealed carry permit;and always carry!our whole state is safer with us,as the facts prove!
This poll was recently paraded as fact here at examiner.com by it's newest Philadelphia Gun Law (Ban) Examiner faux journalist, Tory Harris. Several letters answered her with quotes from your article. Thanks for the fresh air in a world of smoke.
