Here is offering #8 in my attempt to come up with a suggestion a day for Examiner.com's New Year's resolution special project:
I will purchase and read books documenting the history behind the development of the Second Amendment.
I say "purchase" because I believe it is important to support authors who do such important work. They deserve to eat, too.
Here are some suggested titles, by no means all-inclusive, and by no means intended to slight any work not listed:
The Origin of the Second Amendment
The Founders' View of the Right to Bear Arms
That Every Man Be Armed
The Founders Second Amendment
Armed America
Origins and Development of the Second Amendment
and many others.
The point being, all serious gun rights advocates should have a good understanding of the history behind the Second Amendment, and there is nothing better for providing one than some well-researched and authoritative books.
Resolutions offered so far:
New Year's gun rights resolution: Attend an Appleseed
New Year's gun rights resolution: Know your representatives
New Year's gun rights resolution: Write letters to the editor
New Year's gun rights resolution: Join a gun rights group
New Year's gun rights resolution: Send a politician the gun rights questionnaire
New Year's gun rights resolution: Build a guns and liberty video collection
New Year's gun rights resolution: Take a new person shooting

I would like to thank David for listing The Origin of the Second Amendment and The Founders' View of the Right to Bear Arms on his suggested titles reading list.
Both of these titles are on half-price sale through December 31st in observance of the 218th annivesary of Bill of Rights Day on the 15th.
I found an interesting Second Amendment blog article at blog.americanfreedombooks.com. There is an author website at americanfreedombooks.com selling a book on American Freedom. I downloaded the free chapters, read them, and then ordered the book. Every American Patriot and gun owner needs to read this book. If every American Citizen becomes aware of this information it will be difficult for our governments to continue ignoring us and taking away our rights.
The Second Amendment Foundation has a good list at saf.org slash default.asp?p=booklist
