Mark Amodei answers gun rights questionnaire

Nevada U.S. Senate candidate Mark Amodei has answered my gun rights questionnaire. When we last reported on this race in December, Amodei, John Chachas and Chuck Kozack were noticeably absent from a field of respondents that includes:

Danny Tarkanian
Sharron Angle
Bill Parson
Robin Titus
Terry Suominen
Mike Wiley
Jeff Durbin
Sue Lowden

Note it does not include Sen. Reid.

This is a significant development, especially since Amodei has traditionally not been responsive to questionnaires. For him to answer this questionnaire shows the importance of the issue, the potential impact of this qualifier, and how seriously he and the field of candidates are treating it.

How did he do? The Q&A is posted over at Gun Owners of Nevada.

GONV's president also tells me:

I been told by a good source that John Chachas will be turning in his gun rights questionnaire very soon. And the state-wide gun rights questionnaire is getting big hits. I've just started pushing it via back channels and I'm receiving calls, emails and its crazy. I've even got some legislators that are stepping forward on the gun issue! And it does appear to be making a difference. I've had the ear of people that I would not have guessed.

If you're a Nevada Gun Owner, you're already a GONV supporter, right?

Meanwhile, down in Texas...

Kip Averitt has exited the Senate District 22 race. That means gun owners should no longer be divided and can throw their support behind Darren Yancy.

he parsed too his statements far too diligently for me to believe he is anything but a man who will lie for votes.

Men like Madison and Jefferson would not recognize the version of American History and American Government taught in our schools today. So, for instance, it should come as no shock that a judge could sit on the Supreme Court and not know that Americans have the right to self defense. For example, my daughter's Advanced Placement American History class learned about Lexington and Concord, but not why the regulars were there. (We fixed that at an Appleseed shoot!) The end result is candidates who will eventually swear to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" without ever really learning what is in the document or why it is there.

Can they be re-educated? Perhaps.... but that's a really big perhaps.

I don't think the Senator, in any way, deserves the ridiculous "straightarrow" comment. Of all the candidates, I honestly believe Amodei is the most honest, trustworthy, and stand up guy in this race. Are his answers a bit short. Yes. But, read Sue Lowdens. You can't actually think she has any idea what she is talking about, or thought about it one bit until this questionnaire landed on her lap. Amodei obviously typed the damn thing up himself, and didn't have ten staffers look at it and reword it...and add their own "thoughts" on the issue to get votes.
Amodei is a Northern Nevadan, who has hunted his whole life. He is a stand up guy and I completely support him.

Honesty, did you pay any attention to Mr. Amodei's actual answers?
    Please note: Question 5.
Mr. Amodei's answer has absolutely nothing to do with the question. If he can't unequivocally answer the question, he's PARSING - whether you think he's better than the other candidate, OR NOT.
Many thanks for holding their feet to the fire, David.
