As we've seen in the past few days, gun owners need to be aware of local and global threats. This includes being mindful of restrictions imposed by gungrabbers in other countries. Case in point, New Zealand, where:
Thousands of gun owners will be affected by a decision to reclassify many weapons as military-style semi-automatics.
The CliffsNotes version: If your previously-designated "sporting configuration" semi-automatic rifle has a pistol grip, it will now be reclassified as a "military-style semi-automatic." The previous A-class license "law-abiding" New Zealanders obtained will no longer be good enough.
Those buying these guns now need to have the tougher E-class endorsed licence, obtain a permit to buy and advise police of the make and model.
Oh, and then there's this:
The change could cost some owners about $1000 for upgrading their licences and safety equipment.
Not to mention this:
[Police superintendent Tony] McLeod said the reclassification was not an attempt to create a firearms registration system by default, but better tracking of these types of weapons may be a result.
Yeah, right. Good one, Tony.
Peter Linton, Firearm Deregulation Spokesman for Libertarianz, attached the following Word document to an email alert, including "police photos of MSSA's and a letter from Superintendent McLeod."
Look at the pictures. Good grief. Or should I say "Get a grip"?
That such a draconian and ridiculous change can be considered by anyone in government shows how perverse and meddling it has become. That this can be enacted by the police--and considered enforceable--is nothing short of an act of tyranny.
After all: What do you call a state where the police define your privileges and your restrictions?
One can hope for massive noncompliance. Speaking only for myself, I already know what I would do.

Good one. dugg
This isn't that different from California, is it? Stupid little changes make your perfectly legal rifle into an "evil assault weapon."
Maybe my 1757 Brown Bess should be illegal! After all, it is a "military" weapon (it even has a bayonet lug). Or perhaps my Spencer, with it's 28 rounds per minute action would be a threat to the State (it was a military rifle as well).
What percentage of crime is committed by legally obtained weapons of this sort, really?
Not much, considering of those in jail for a crime committed with a gun, only 8% obtained the weapon legally.
DAMMMIT! It isn't about guns, never has been. It is about eradicating liberty, thoughts of liberty, and the means to obtain and/or maintain liberty, and the eradication of the belief that humans have rights not granted by their betters (government).
At this stage of the game anyone who doesn't see this can only be stupid beyond belief or evil.
Liberty, like civil rights? You care about that right?
You really think there's someone out there thinking "how can I take away someone's liberty today"?
I do, they're called conservatives who want liberty only for straight white people, mostly men.
The difference is Americans will fight to keep the Constitution in tact, for without the US Constitution there is NO US.
That is the difference ! The Constitution was written to protect i9tself and the People know that, at least the American people know that very well.
"Nuts!" - General Anthony McAuliffe to the Germans who surrounded him and his men and demanded their surrender at Bastogne.
I have a couple of opinions on this. 1. They get what they deserve. 2. It just goes to show that a government with too much power will stop at nothing to take your inherent rights away for the sake of "we know what's best for our people". 3. Isn't New Zealand still part of England?
I know it's a fact that I have an inherent right to own, purchase, carry, shoot, defend myself or anyone around me with any type of firearm I choose. I say damn anyone that tries to take that inherent right away! Big government here in America is on the brink of falling and I say GOOD RIDANCE! It's time to get all of these hypocritical bigots out of the way so this country can get back to the way it was meant to be. It's starting to get monotonous. Just like Commufornia. Why haven't those people realized that they need to get rid of Feinstein and her cohorts? Kennedy has also run his gambit. GET'EM OUTTA THERE!
Straightarrow is correct.
OK, listen up, THIS is what is happening.
The new World Order comprised most likely of mainly old rich powerful families from America and England that have controlled industry the Monarchy and the presidency for countless decades are implementing a draconian One World Government. They are constantly staging events as excuses to pass laws restricting our freedoms preparing for the final phase. They orchestrated 911 and the credit crisis to grab resources, and weaken nations. They created and released the swine flu to reduce population and give themselves an excuse to eventually pass quarantine, internment and martial law. To speed it up and create public fear they create drug resistant measles and the deadly Hendra virus in Australia and harmful vaccinations. They're passing anti-gun legislation in many countries now. It's all about disarming us to crush resistance. It's all so mind-meltingly obvious!
