Holder tells Senate committee Justice Department supports more 'gun control'

In unmistakably clear admissions before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Nov. 18, Attorney General Eric Holder signaled strong administration support for additional "gun control" edicts.

Law Enforcement Alliance of America, the only national law enforcement organization to oppose Holder's confirmation, issued a press release warning:

Drawing reasonable conclusions from what Holder publicly said, we now know:

• Holder wants a national, permanent gun registration system administered by law enforcement. A registration of honest citizens that have cleared the federal background check for gun purchases with those records permanently retained by and shared among law enforcement.

• Holder wants new federal authority to prohibit any person on the federal watch list (reported to be 400,000 names) from buying guns and supports confiscating guns from those on the list who possess them.

I held off on bringing this release to the attention of Gun Rights Examiner readers because I wanted to corroborate the claims--which, unfortunately, the official transcript of Holder's prepared remarks, posted on the Justice Department website, do not.

So I contacted LEAA and spoke last night with their Chief Operating Officer and national spokesman, Ted Deeds. He told me they were reporting on remarks made during questioning, and sent me a transcript of the appropriate segments of AG Holder's testimony:

Why is it that when Dianne Feinstein says "Excellent," the immediate image that comes to mind is a gleefully malevolent Montgomery Burns? And yes, I caught that this was supported by the Bush administration. Some of us were consistent in not giving him a pass when he was in power.

Click here to watch Holder's morning session testimony for yourself on C-SPAN, noting the time relevant exchanges begin from the above embedded document.

As we've discussed before, some of the opponents of repealing the Tiahrt amendment might surprise those who haven't been paying attention:

[T]he Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has always supported language protecting firearm trace data, now known as the Tiahrt Amendment...

ATF itself has repeatedly gone to court to fight the release of its data, because the release can have a negative effect on its efforts to investigate illegal gun trafficking and threaten the safety of officers and witnesses.

And as we've seen before, that "no fly list" nets some peculiar catches:

U.S. Sen. Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy said yesterday that he was stopped and questioned at airports on the East Coast five times in March because his name appeared on the government's secret "no-fly" list.

Besides which, our entire criminal justice system is supposed to be based on presumption of innocence. But let's explore the rationale of those who think differently: If denying gun purchases to people on government suspicion lists is "good" (an no one thinks this will be limited to Al-Qaeda and not include "homegrown" persons of interest, do they?), then disarming these suspects and taking away their existing arms must be "better."

How would the federal government do that without using registration lists to enable confiscation? You know, what prominent media voices sneer at and dismiss whenever the possibility of it is raised...

And ask yourself why major "Authorized Journalist" outlets aren't reporting on this, and indeed, if you relied on some to answer if there is evidence the administration wants more gun control, their reply would be a scoffing  "Absolutely none whatsoever."

"confiscation... what prominent media voices sneer at and dismiss whenever the possibility of it is raised..."

Gun-owners... have been brainwashed by the NRA to think a handgun ban would mean the confiscation of their hunting rifles. No one seems able to convince them that even the mouthiest Massachusetts liberal has no designs on long guns.

They had better have the confiscations planned for before the healthcare vote, because come the day it's signed as "law" I stop obeying anything thje feds have to say. They will have lost any and all remaining "legitimacy" that is hanging by a thread.

There is ZERO authority for dang near anything passed in the last 9 years.

It sure sounds like time for another run on guns and ammo, in case they haven't got the message yet. Also raw materials and tools.

Here we get an honest AG and everyone is upset. He's telling the truth and not lying by saying one thing and going off and doing another. We have all known the liberals have always had a problem with firearm ownership and have huge problems with the Second Amendment. Now in an open form we have the nation's top law enforcement officer telling us what he and his liberal buddies want to do. Thank you A.G. Holder for being honest and removing any hidden agenda so we all get to see that agenda in the open. It sounds like he's saying he wants to do this out in the open. Let's hold him to it, out in the open means no treaties to get around the Constitution.

When it out in the open like this you know very clearly who the enemy is and what you have to do to make his retention by Obama very uncomfortable. The man is arrogant enough to think he has the power to spit in your face and tell you he is taking away your rights whether you want them or not and oh by the way he is taking your children's rights away as well. Maybe he will make America mad enough to rise up and revolt. Take to the streets and demand your elected officials rebuke him and his federal demands. And if any of you in the otehr 49 states think things are bad where you are just check out california and see how much worse things can get very quickly. If california backs it in the national congress you better oppose it and this comes from a california citizen.

Guess this nitwit doesn't know that bows and crossbows are silent, have no muzzleflash, are unregistered, leave no rifleing marks on their projectiles, and easily penetrate kevlar. They're superior to guns in many ways, and far cheaper. I don't think LEOs or government would be happy if archery made a big comeback.

Make NO mistake. This racist Nazi tyrant is headed for what he REALLY wants: total firearm confiscation. Nobody wants registration just for registration's sake. Holder has stated that he doesn't think that Americans have ANY constitutional right to own guns. Now he clearly intends to see to it that his vision is carried out. Yes, Colony14, you said it. I can hardly believe it myself. How could men like Eric Holder and his fuhrer EVER have been elected to power? Yet here it is. It all IS coming true!!

Secrets of the Bill of Rights revealed

The First 10 Amendments to the Constitution as Ratified by the States December 15, 1791
PREAMBLE Congress OF THE United States.
"THE Conventions of a number of the States having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best insure the beneficent ends of its institution.."

Amendment II "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Beyond blantly ignoring the law embodied in the IIA, does the AG also not know that intentional violation of a person’s rights is the very basis of an actual criminal act?

    Hear, hear.

I once considered myself a "centrist" or a "moderate"; then I realized that walking down the middle of the road just means I can get run over from either direction. On the other hand, I never have agreed with or supported Obama on much of anything and, sadly, I doubt that will ever change.

That said though, I still believe the real truth is often somewhere in the middle. And, more importantly, I will always respect anyone, regardless of their political leanings, who also believes the Constitution is bigger than any one man and worth defending.

Among numerous goals of a national registration of all firearms is to make it more convenient for the filing of lawsuits against any person and any insurance company even remotely connected with a person that has a firearm stolen and the gun is used in a crime. Many lawsuits involving firearma are against homeowner’s policies and result in out-of-court settlements.
Another goal is to make it inconvenient, expensive and burdensome for every law-abiding citizen to maintain their 'federal firearm permits', thus effecting a decrease in overall firearm ownership among the general citizenry.
Since only the law-abiding abide by the laws, and nowhere in America can it be shown that more gun control laws = less gun crimes, passing more laws to decrease gun crimes is a provably false excuse--not to mention Constitutionally prohibited and thus legally null and void.

Government steals your money then pays itself to violate your rights.
    Brilliant.

    Stop feeding the beast.

JWT: I don't know any true conservatives who hate the First and Fourth amendments. True conservatives believe in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Just like true liberals believe in freedom, which does not include socialist wealth redistribution.

"all of America": Careful. "Take out" has a pretty commonly-recognized meaning, and you did not make it clear you were speaking in strictly political terms. We get our share of comment posters here who try to make it look like liberty advocates are violent, so it's tough to tell if some statements are made by provocateurs, trolls, or simply people who don't think through the repercussions of their statements. Be that as it may, my policy is not to delete comments that might be misconstrued, because I need to show I am not hiding anything. That said, if comments are investigated, I have no ability to keep those conducting it from accessing detailed site visitation records.

Holder got the job for being a "liberal progressive" along with the rest of the Obama cronies. People like him are depraved, period. They don't care about constitutional rights, there too focused on that so called "change you can believe in" agenda to destroy this country's bill of rights. Holder could care less about the landmark DC vs. Heller case as much as he claimed he would honor the final outcome when it was finally ruled on. This country is waking with a patriotism like no other time before. There listening fox news because they know something is terribly wrong with this administration (sick is more like it), and when people like Glenn Beck are called "a national treasure" and "great patriot" it's refreshing. The democratic party is shooting itself in the foot with it's cap and trade scam and health care takeover making people gun shy as to what's next. After there done trashing this country, they will be remembered for the scum they really are as they look for another job.

Colony14, what I want to know is not how did Chittum foresee it, but how did so many NOT?

Tyranny for Americans has been brewing since the constitutional debates. A tyrant's ambush--a whole new, federal, constitution--was turned into a victory for liberty by the addition of a Bill of Rights.

But the tyrants--Europe's filthy rich and America's wannabes--weren't willing to concede defeat of any permanent kind.

They laid a plan. That sleeper awakened by 1860, came fully to life by the early 1900s, adolesced through the 1950s, achieved adulthood by 2000, and has been ravening since then.

By '88, folks were finally feeling it. I could see revolution coming, and predicted the riots that took place in '91. We only heard about L.A., but it was some 50 cities across the U.S. Wonder why we didn't hear?

The Beast is ready for revolution these days. It can deal with you AND your guns. But time is limited, and your guns are a problem. It'll be a white knuckle ride now. Buckle up.
