New information on the Meleanie Hain shooting has been reported this afternoon.
From The Lebanon Daily News:
Guns right's advocate Meleanie Hain was shot to death by her husband, Scott Hain, as another man watched via a webcam, Lebanon police announced Friday.
... he observed Scott Hain walk into view and fire several times in the direction of where he last observed Meleanie.
And from PennLive.com:
Police have served a search warrant and seized the friend's computer.
While some anti-gun zealots are hard at work blaming the domestic violence victim, or extrapolating that this one incident proves guns are always useless for defense, those decrying armed defense and using this to justify their position need to explain a gross inconsistency. Considering who the evidence is pointing to as the shooter, a law enforcement professional, why is the focus almost exclusively weighted against citizens and silent on those politically correct society deems the "only ones" we can trust with guns?

David, thanks for the update. Hopefully it won't get any uglier than it already is, but all the posturing activity doesn't bode well.
Hard to imagine what it would be like trying to explain this to those kids.
Why did the cops steal the friend's computer? I'm quite sure he would have allowed them to watch or download the video. Theft was "necessary"? Just another illustration that talking to cops is always a mistake.
d'uh to me! when it comes to domestic violence, according to anti gunners, it IS the woman's fault.
who knew!
Yes, thanks David for the update. I have not seen this new information published anywhere else.
I hope the friend made copies of the video files in question and moved them to a secure location because if the video proves to be damning evidence against the police force it may never see the light of day again.
Malanie was ambushed by someone she obviously trusted. A very difficult attack to defend against even for a highly trained individual. Terrible.
This is simply a tragic event. Especially for the kids. Can you even imagine?
It is sad that so many would try to use this for political gain. She would be no less dead if he had used a baseball bat. Somehow because she was shot, the message gets changed to guns.
Sad and amazing...

Kent: No, they didn't steal it - they were required to seize it to preserve the evidence for forensic examination. This is so the police can determine the facts in this case, in that the husband actually did shoot the wife and not a third party. For the police NOT to enter the computer into evidence would be the height of dereliction.
I am an instructor in domestic violence (DV) issues to police and victim advocates. It saddens me to no end when ANYONE is involved in DV - and sadly, my profession has more than their share.
The Brady Bunch will have a field day with this. IMHO, for them to use this to further their political agenda is totally reprehensible.
And just for the record - I trust more citizens with guns that I do some of my fellow officers.
We had an IMPD cop blow his brains out at a street corner argument with his wife. She and one of their kids witnessed it. This just reminds me re the only one guideline that they are the only ones to be trusted with guns.
At one time you could classify my family as a police and military family.
Over the years my family moved away from law enforcement and the military and I never understood why until I was told about how the selection process for law enforcement had changed.
It appears that the new screening process is looking for individuals from broken homes and under achievers.
I was told that the Illinois State police use an annotated screening exam used by the SS in 1935 in the selection of new officers
The newer officers (last 20 yrs) are not stable and will follow orders regardless of the cost to the victims
madashell, that has been obvious for a long time now. These bastards would pay to wear the badge, gun, authority, and special immunities if they had to to hold the position.
BTW, that is the result of a psychological study done about 15/20 years ago. No, I don't remember the name of it. It can probably be found with enough internet search.
