A Dec. 21 press release from the Second Amendment Foundation points to an inconvenient truth:
A ten percent drop in murders during the first six months of this year at a time when gun sales were up dramatically is more proof that there is no correlation between gun ownership and violent crime...
You can read the SAF release by clicking here, and the FBI preliminary report it references by clicking here.
Already, pundits are scrambling to explain the results, some even arguing with them, but none among the mainstream "authorized journalists" seem to be drawing the obvious conclusion--the one that undermines their disarmament advocacy. As always, don't take my word for it--here's a Google News search for terms "FBI crime report"--see for yourself how many articles remark on the boom in gun sales and then question their assumptions.
It goes back to a point I've been making for many years now: Take the 4 million members of the NRA (proven ones, please), arguably the most heavily armed "civilian" population on the planet. Our "collective" violent crime rate is lower than gun-free Sarah Brady "paradises" like Mexico, the UK, Japan--and based on my "Only Ones" files, I'm comfortable extrapolating lower than the police.
Trying to disarm you and me will not reduce violent crime. It will only increase the disarmed victim pool, giving even more of an advantage to predators who observe no moral law.
That's the inconvenient truth ambitious politicians, zealous gungrabbers and their media enablers don't want us to know.

Rational people use data to inform decisions.
The data always proves the communists wrong.
When they don't lie or make it up, they pretend it doesn't exist.
Rational educated people are like garlic to blood sucking communists.
If the anti's, the communists, and bureaucrats won't listen to truth or reason, I know of a sound that will get their full attention, and I ain't kiddin' either.
Yes, but those NRA people are so awful *as people* that the statistics aren't really what matters to the sophisticates.
I saw a comment to an idiotic news piece yesterday where the commentator related the tale of dinner at a retired Air Force officer's house. Dinner was made by his Thai wife (we all know what's happening there, am I right?) who didn't eat with the guests. Then they had expensive wine and drinks (the horror!) and cigars (yikes!). They even saw photos of the man with his personal F86 Saber fighter jet (uh, OK, I guess that's awful somehow) and his Ferrari (do I really need to go on? This ogre drove a Ferrari. How I hate him.) But the clincher was his gun safe, full of guns, including a "20mm aircraft cannon."
The kicker? "A proud NRA member, of course."
The horrors!
Someone please forward this data to Califronia, then find someone literate to read it to the Governator. Serial numbers on bullets? C'mon, man! Monthly rationing of ammo? Give me a break!
No correlation??????
Actually this makes it pretty clear that there is an inverse relation in the data, more guns means less crime.
And in the realm of economics, there is a free rider problem. All us gun owners are reducing crime for our neighbors who don't own guns. Should we start charging a fee? :)

Chairman Mao said true power comes from the barrel of a gun. That's an expert opinion that a disarmed populace powerless (how many unarmed Chinese dissidents died under Mao?). Gee, I wonder why our would be masters in DC (District of Criminals) are so concerned about privately held firearms? You don't suppose they are afraid we will remember (in spite of public school indoctrination to the contrary) that the 2nd Amendment is our final check & balance in this system of government, do you? Based on the results we've been getting with phone calls, emails & tea parties, it should be obvious to every thinking American that our options to restore the Constitutional Republic are getting narrower. Be a responsible American & arm yourself if you haven't already.
Got something to say?
