Dreams of Obama

We talked yesterday about President Obama's "urban policy" as stated on his website, specifically as it pertains to "gun violence in cities." We noted he wants to repeal the "Tiahrt amendment" and the reality, that such data is already available to criminal investigations, that repeal would allow for further harassment of gun dealers, and that both BATFE and the FOP oppose repeal .

Let's look at the next gun law the President hopes to change:

Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them.

Well, that certainly sounds like following through on his stated conviction--you know, that thing he said to convince gun owners he was on their side and they should vote for him:

"I know that what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne."

Yet his gun control dreams extend throughout the Republic (we still are one, aren't we?) But it sounds good, doesn't it? "Commonsense"? "For the children"?

Talk about buzz words straight out of the Brady Campaign/Million Mom March playbook. To translate what they really mean, consider who federal gun laws already declare to be "ineligible persons":

The following classes of people are ineligible to possess, receive, ship, or transport firearms or ammunition:

  • Those convicted of crimes punishable by imprisonment for over one year, except state misdemeanors punishable by two years or less.

  • Fugitives from justice.

  • Unlawful users of certain depressant, narcotic, or stimulant drugs.

  • Those adjudicated as mental defectives or incompetents or those committed to any mental institution.

  • Illegal aliens.

  • Citizens who have renounced their citizenship.

  • Those persons dishonorably discharged from the Armed Forces.

  • Persons less than 18 years of age for the purchase of a shotgun or rifle.

  • Persons less than 21 years of age for the purchase of a firearm that is other than a shotgun or rifle.

  • Persons subject to a court order that restrains such persons from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner.

  • Persons convicted in any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

So what are Obama and Biden going to do that fits any objective definition of "commonsense"? Make things more illegal for the above list? Or come up with more foolishness that won't work, but will infringe on the right of the people from Chicago to Cheyenne to keep and bear arms...? You know, that Second Amendment he respects so much...

------------

Oh looky here...

That did not take long at all.

Shifting the "urban policy" anti-gun hopes and changes to the official White House website, that is...

Obama's words of what works in one place may not work in another. Never mind allowing the states to pass their own laws. Obama wants to tweak the system to force more federal control over the wishes of the states.
The bottom line is this guy is nothing but a smooth talking lawyer. He's someone/s closer and he's going to be doing the work of his sales managers. I can tell you he's way over his head and this country is going to be having some huge problems coming full force at it. He's going to have Americans filled with hate for other Americans. He will have people wanting burn down the homes of other Americans because of that hate.
He is going to attack the Second Amendment in a number of angles. This is going to start a lot of unrest. Look at all the many millions of people who just went out and got a firearm for the first time. They are going to be very unhappy about having to turn it in or having news laws of ownership that will make it so if there's ever a agenda to collect such firearms they will be on record.
The show is about to start and its going to get very ugly. This guy will prove everyone right who said he's bad news.

the idea that government works anywhere, let alone chicago, is laughable. "works" by definition are the actions of people. they don't need fancy uniforms to strut around in, nor authoritative titles, to do a job well. they simply need to care for what they do, and to be adequately compensated for their efforts. government is force, it is the hammer washington saw forged for the purpose of those who would deprive anyone of liberty -- having ever misunderstood this, mankind picks up the hammer, looks around, and "discovers" that it is surrounded by nails. it then proceeds to beat itself to death.

None of us should lose sight of the fact that this Obomination has no different an agenda than any other politician who ever came to power - at any level. He happens to be in a position now to carry out that agenda even more than anyone before him.

But it has always been about making slaves and subjects of ordinary people. Always.

With all the ridiculous faith-healer hoopla surrounding the corona- er, inauguration, it helps me to remember that Obama is (as AJ says here) merely a product of all the statist utopians that came before him. (Seriously: if one more person tries to tell me how "historic" this election is, I think I'm gonna puke.)

I do wonder how bad the ad-hominem attacks will become. These, of course, are pointless; Obama is just another garden-variety statist. Our problem is not that it is HE who has been designated to wield the Ring of Power; our problem is that, in our own production of the Lord of the Rings, Frodo wussed out and didn't destroy the Ring at all, but kept it with the thought that we could just put "someone better" in charge next time. (Plug in appropriate actors for this metaphor just as far up or down the line as you like.)

And lovers of irony are going to want to get a goodly amount of popcorn ready for whatever ad-hominem slinging does come forth, as those who embraced this vulgar art above all others during the last eight years, suddenly find their pious side and demand, DEMAND that it all get shut down. (Cue "circle of life" music now.)

Let's keep our eyes on the ball. The unconscionable evil of citizen disarmament and the Only One attitude that goes with it, does not need to be personified. It needs to be stopped, by those whose cooperation it needs to succeed. (Incidentally, the rush on guns and ammunition is heartening news, speaking far more powerfully--and anonymously--than anything with a name could.)

Besides, think about it: personifying an evil makes it all too easy for those that are really pulling the strings, to cut their own losses and run without ever having to address the evil itself.

Which, I try to remind myself every day, is exactly how we've got ourselves in this sorry mess to begin with.

(And I know I've said it before, but this is what makes David's ongoing work so important. The only names that matter are the ones given to concepts--Only Ones, Authorized Journalists, Victim Disarmers, etc.--other names are just data points that prove the principle. If we can yet lift ourselves out of this morass peacefully, this is how we will do it.)

Ya know it's a shame to think that the right to keep and bear arns guaranteed us in the constitution could be wittled away by the new group in power. However if push comes to shove the only law that can disarm someone is the law they are willing to obey! Use the example set by the original Americans. Any law that distorts the constitution or subverts its meaning is in itself illegal!

Good Article, to the point, and, sharpening our Spurs for when we have 'to ride.'

I've read this sinister "Bill," and, the most comprehensive analysis I've read on it so far, is by Alan Korwin, compiler, editor, and, writer of "Gun Laws of America" (and, the Gun Law Books for every State, that's generally thrown in with the price of your CCW), on his Page Nine website (just type Page Nine into your address Bar, and, hit 'Go').

He dissects, trisects, and, slashes the Bill to bits, pointing out the non-sequitors, mis-information, lies and deliberate obfuscation, from Title, to the numbers at the bottom of each page.

Wait a minute! . . . aren't the Brady gun grabbing pukes the same ones who constantly tell Joe sixpack that guns are just too darn un-regulated in this country?!? What the heck are all these restrictions then?!?
