CNN has jumped on the Oath Keepers-smearing bandwagon:
An anti-Obama group is recruiting members from the military and law enforcement. CNN's Jim Acosta reports.
That's quite an assumption there. Both in their characterization of the group and in what they say Acosta is doing.
Their purpose is not to be anti-Obama. It is to uphold their oath to the Constitution. When Obama upholds his, Oath Keepers will be behind him.
Founder Stewart Rhodes gets some on-camera face time, and naturally the subject of guns comes up.
Acosta seems incredulous when he asks Rhodes who is talking about taking guns away.
The administration and their congressional allies are talking about it, and what's more, they are doing things to incrementally erode our right to keep and bear arms.
Mr. Acosta, you didn't hear Eric Holder call for a new ban on semiautomatic firearms as a solution to Mexican drug violence? Yeah, I know politically he was forced to back off of that--for now--but you don't think that's because he wanted to, do you?
You never investigated the "urban policy" page on the official White House website where they confirm this is one of their goals, along with what they call "closing the gun show loophole," that is, ending private sales? Too late now, they've removed that from their site--but you people have the capability to verify it was there--and on the Obama presidential campaign site before that.
CNN has all kinds of investigative resources, Mr. Acosta, and all kinds of archival access. Why is it you don't seem to know about the administration's desire to change the law to repeal Tiahrt protections against those who would exploit trace data?
Why is it CNN is apparently unaware of the Obama's stated goal to impose potentially dangerous modification requirements on gun manufacturers under the guise of "making guns in this country childproof"?
And there are other more indirect ways this administration is seeking to work in new regulations, Mr. Acosta. Surely you're aware that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently reversed official U.S. policy on the UN Arms Trade Treaty? Are you truly oblivious to the Inter-American Arms Trafficking Treaty, or potential dangers posed by the DDTC (look it up, Acosta, it's not like you're busy doing investigative journalism or anything).
Why is it, Jim, that you don't report with equal incredulity Chuck Schumer's un-American call to prememptively suspend the gun rights of suspects, you know, the people juries are instructed are "presumed innocent"?
And you don't think passing a committed anti-gunner out of committee without debate, one who will head a major federal regulatory agency in charge of workplace safety, poses any kind of concern?
As for confiscation, well, gee, when have we ever seen government use an emergency as an excuse to do that before? I mean, really...?
You prefer the actions of the guys in these videos to men and women who say they would not do this to their countrymen?
Back to Jim Acosta, "Authorized Journalist":
...as we've said earlier this week in this series, there are no proposals coming from the White House or Democratic leaders in Congress for new gun control laws.
"There's a lot of 'what if's'," Jim's partner in CNN investigative excellence opines. "Is there any truth...?
"Absolutely none whatsoever," Jim replies.
Yeah, pal. Absolutely none. I must have made up all these links and everything I said about them.
Do you really believe that, Jim? Or is it just that the reality that is all around you doesn't match your talking points?

WorldNetDaily's Bob Unruh writes about yesterday's Senate committee approval of anti-gun nominee David Michaels to head OSHA.

From Oregon Firearms Federation:
In a case funded by the Oregon FIrearms Educational Foundation, Jane Doe Vs Medford School District, the court ruled that Oregon's preemption statute does not protect employees from gun restrictions imposed on them by state employers.
Just so we know who's in charge. And that's funny--along with this ruling, I don't see any guarantee or commitment to protect anyone mandated to be defenseless.

So, I wonder how Jim Accoster would feel were guns to be banned and we had plenty more time to lobby congress to start going after the slanderous libelous media or to drop a deuce on those things he feels important.
Lets outlaw private security and see how the turd feels about guns then. Oh, be sure to remind him about the lack of a mandate for the police to protect individuals.

If you look at the ratings of CNN it would appear I'm not the only one who gave up his boarding pass.
I did see the clip on cnn.com and I have to say, I was impressed both at how well Rhodes handled himself, and that the editors decided to air that (similarly with the clip prior on militias). IMO, Rhodes came off as articulate and intelligent, tying their concerns into things that did happen under Bush, and the reporters mostly come off as tools, countering with asinine stuff such as the possibility of gun bans being baseless.
Not the best I've ever seen, but the best I've seen from CNN.
Remember that people such as Jim probably think all the proposed bans and restrictions are seriously good ideas, "reasonable," and will promote public safety. Or they are evil scum determined to see us all in chains or dead. Not too many other possibilities.
They've got their minds made up, and have no interest in seeing anything else as fact.
Tom's, point about outlawing private security is well taken. It should not be that only those with power and money are allowed effective personal protection.
The airwaves are supposed to belong to the people. The FCC mandate is to see that the radio spectrum is used in the public interest, convenience, and necessity. Unfortunately, we have radical one sided news and opinion propaganda on the network/cable channels. It's sad that when they break for commercials the ads for miracle cure remedies are more believable than the newscast.
I would call CNN the new "Pravda" but then would have nothing to call MSNBC...
Ask yourself: "Who won the cold war?" Now open your eyes and look around. Keep doing this until reality sets in.
David,
Thanks for a great article and being a voice for we lawful, legal gun owners.
I am a proud member of Oath Keepers, people may twist whatever they want, to fit their agenda, but many of us know the truth.
Oath Keepers is not about gun control or guns at all. We are present and former members of our military and law enforcement
that WILL refuse to obey any order that is unconstitutional...that is what Oath Keepers is all about.
I'll tell you what. Oath Keepers are awesome. I've never been a member of either military or police but as far as my immediate response to any possible future totalitarian moves its this. I'm not going to obey any new unconstitutional crap that may come our way in the future. Thats for damn sure.
Interesting how any one that defends the constitution comes across as anti Obama.
Citizen M. says: "Interesting how any one that defends the constitution comes across as anti Obama."
It a sign of the times.
It's taken a President who is clearly pro-Muslim, who openly recruits pro-Marxists and communists, who believes the U.S. Constitution is a living document that would be open to interpretation, who shows disdain to the military, who bows deeply to foreign leaders, who's idea of change is beginning to scare the living daylights out of the masses, and who, IMO, is the most un-patriotic president (little p) ever.
Only now are people coming to terms Obama's change and how it will bankrupt the country and they don't like it. Hopefully it's not too late to prevent a catastrophe.

A large number of young Oath Keepers are here at Ft. Hood. But after the recent shootings, the Fort Hood Garrison and Installation Commanders now are requiring all soldiers and their family members to register their firearms no matter where they are kept, i.e. on the installation or off the installation. The way it is worded, even if your firearms are kept in another state, you must register these firearms at the Ft. Hood installation's police station. We Need all individuals who believe in the 2nd to write your congressional representatives and stop this eroding of any American's rights, especially if the state (TX) doesn't require registration. Some might say, well they asked for it when they joined, but remember historically the removal of rights are tested on the unprotected first, i.e. African Americans, European Jewry and etc. If Texas allows Texan citizens to register firearms just because they or their spouses are in the Military, this will set precedence for you to be next.
DEB--do you know anyone with a physical copy of that order? Please email me dcodreaAThotmailDOTcom.
If I can verify it, I'll write about it.
