The Brady Center has filed its friend of the court brief in the case of OTIS MCDONALD, et al., Petitioners, v. CITY OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, et al., Respondents. Click here to read it.
They say their brief is "in support of neither party," but what are they really saying?
[T]he Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms should not prevent citizens, through their elected representatives, from enacting the reasonable laws they desire and need to protect their families and communities from gun violence.
What they're saying in the Chicago case is essentially the same thing they said in the Heller Washington D.C. case: Gun bans are "reasonable" and consistent with the Second Amendment proscription that "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
This does not surprise anyone who has been watching these Brady characters for any length of time. After all, we're talking a group that--in spite of putting on a kinder, gentler public face via a name change--still internally identifies itself by its original name: Handgun Control, Inc.
We're talking about a group that's founder admitted:
We're going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily -- given the political realities -- going to be very modest. . . . [W]e'll have to start working again to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen the next law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we'd be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal -- total control of handguns in the United States -- is going to take time. . . . The first problem is to slow down the number of handguns being produced and sold in this country. The second problem is to get handguns registered. The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition-except for the military, police, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors-totally illegal.
"Reasonable common sense gun laws," Brad...I mean, HCI-style.
Tomorrow, barring any unforeseen developments that push this to a back burner, I'm going to examine the co-conspirators on the HCI brief.

Comments
I realize that in places like Chicago and New York there are many citizens who would agree with HCI's position, but I they think they do so without really thinking about it and certainly without the benefit of the history of the entire issue.
To control guns through reasonable registration under the second amendment in local areas is one thing by majority vote. But to enact a total ban denying the minority the right to exercise a consitutional right under the second amendment flies in the face of everything this country was founded upon.
Of course disarmament advocates are unreasonable. They are mentally defective. They project their own evil desires and motivations onto others who are not suffering the same twisted personality defects that they are. After all, these monsters who support disarmament are the same "Mass-murderer fan club" that salivates in anticipation of the next massacre they can exploit and celebrate for their own devious purposes. They are advocating evil, and most of them know it, while the rest are pathetic, ignorant lemmings following the leader over the cliff, into the jaws of waiting sharks, thinking they are being led to safety.
And, sorry Robert, but violating rights by the vote of the majority is still an act of evil.
Let us not forget these fine quotations from the "reasonable" folks at Brady/HCI:
"We must get rid of all the guns."
--Sarah Brady, speaking on behalf of Handgun Control Inc, Phil Donahue Show, September 1994 with Sheriff Jay Printz & others
"...I don't believe gun owners have rights."
--Sarah Brady, Chairman, Handgun Control, Incorporated, from the Hearst Newspapers Special Report, "Handguns in America" October 1997
"Yes, I'm for an outright ban (on handguns)."
-- Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., during a 60 Minutes Interview.
Here's another James Brady gem:
"[Handguns] for target shooting, that's okay. Get a license and go to the range. For defense of the home, that's why we have police departments."
That's step one of the dance. When they get that, they move on to step two, as fellow-tyrant Rebecca Peters already did in England when they started banning target guns: "So get another hobby."
How we burned in the camps later: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? . . ."
Never again.
We will not be disarmed. III
The Brady bunch, International Police Chiefs Assn, and the Fraternal Order of Police remind me of George Wallace's (in)famous "Segregation yesterday, Segregation today, Segregation forever." statement made in defiance of the SCOTUS's ruling on school segregation.
These people will stop at nothing in their desire to force their anti-gun prejudices upon all Americans. They haven't figured out as yet that there are no 2nd Amendment supporters attempting to force gun ownership upon them.
If push comes to shove, the only thing the Bradys and their ilk will have forced upon them is our desire that they leave us the hell alone.
W-III
Lincoln started it, and Sara Brady will finish it with help from her socialist friends...what time is it?
Ten minutes 'til Claire Wolfe.
Henny- It is half-past Claire Wolfe. Are we too late? Did we miss the window of opportunity? Or, will we get another chance to redeem ourselves?
Never mind that their draconian gun bans simply do not work. The formerly great Britain is proof of that. Total ban on handguns and still their gun related crime has doubled since the ban went into effect.
So, when their attempts to make us "safer" fail what do they do? Well, naturally they blame someone else. Case in point is herr Bloomberg of NYC who, unable to control crime in his city, must attack gun sales in southern states as the root cause of his problem.
One thing is certain. The Bradys and their ilk have learned to nibble away at our rights, having failed with their last big gulp, aka the rescinded 1994 AWB, but their ultimate goal remains the same, a total ban on firearms in civilian possession. Well, we've learned too, and no matter what pretty words you couch it in any infringement on our rights will not be tolerated.
One matter that those among groups proposing such nonsense as sensible gun laws save lives and having stated missions such as preventing gun violence have refused their moral obligation and duty to provide themselves with Arms for defense.
Another matter entirely to attempt to pressure those in government positions to violate rightsof the people which predate and preexist all forms of American government, and interfere with those Citizens having accepted their solemn moral obligations and duties.
Since most all among the members of these groups are obviously fully aware of the dangers posed by human predators (armed or not)--a reasonable person would conclude they are also well aware of their position as victims-in-waiting, and naturally expect when violence is perpetrated upon them they would accept their fate as a consequential result of their own poor life choices,--having already relegated the value of thier lives to be worth no more than the cost of a single bullet.
Come on David, of course these people are going to be unreasonable!!!
They are part of a greater agenda to control the people.
Just like the NRA the Brady Bunch is shilling for their Elite masters keeping this phoney Left-Right paradigm working to confuse the great un-washed while the true agenda is being carried out.
Remember the Japanese expert in the art of war that said Know your enemy?
Well our enemy is playing us like fools and the average gun owner/American doesnt have a clue to the real agenda of global depopulation.
But first they have to disarm the last group of people in the world that is armed and thats us!
Then their going to finish their plans of making us so poor, hungry and sick that we cant resist just before they enact their final solution.
WAKE-UP America!
Why should anyone not be alowed to protect them selves against others who wish to do them harm. They need some 6 foot tall 300 pound gangbangers to beat the crap out of them and rape there wifes while they watch but cant do anything because they dont beleave in being able to protect themselves.
Got something to say?
