Safer Streets 2010: Turning crime around in a single night.

Quite a promise. More than a promise, it is a formula for smaller government.

In my last edition, Safer Streets 101: Only you have the power, I pointed out that only you can make things happen and turn around the idea of bigger government.

David Codrea mentioned taking a new person shooting. It's very good advice for several reasons. You learn more about liberty and your sovereignty from gun owners than you ever will from your public servants, including so-called educators. You'll learn more about civics, more about due process, and more about sovereignty from helpful gun owners on the range than almost any other source. And you'll learn it right.

Pledge this to yourself in a 2010 New Year's Resolution: to learn more about the connection between the second amendment and all of harassment of you and your family from bigger government. Once you see the connection between disarmament and belligerence from public servants, you will see how fighting for the gun rights of others is to fight for all of your own rights. 2010 can be a wonderful year for regaining the freedom of your children, since your freedoms are almost nearly lost. You may not feel it, but your kids' rights were first endangered when your rights were first endangered over the last few decades. Gun control took not only your guns, but also your knowledge and independence from our own servants. Pledge to get them back.

2010 will require you to make this connection in understanding, and to do something about it. It will require you to register to vote and to vote out everyone. It will require you to get involved in who is nominated and to think about independents more than party. You, yourself, may have to run for office. It might help.

Your safer streets from crime and violence now means your safer personal assets, safer freedoms and safer futures tomorrow.

From Safe Streets In The Nationwide Concealed Carry Of Handguns... "Turning Crime around in a single night: Criminals will always be armed. The solution is not in more guns; it's always been about citizen authority and lost values. An armed citizenry is never an armed camp – rather, citizens have elected to assert their own genuine authority over both crime and the system. Many have begun to turn crime around in a single night. An armed citizenry is the culmination of what the community will no longer tolerate, how parents will protect their children, how citizens will more precisely direct their law enforcement assets and how we assert ourselves as the Supreme Authority of the Nation."

You need to understand that when you tolerate crime, you are tolerating the whims of public servants.

Reversing this is not done at gunpoint, but at counterpoint. The key, as you can see, is not violence, but credibility. The government has no credibility in first disarming people, then, when crime grows, pointing to the need to protect people, which it cannot do as well as you can. The triumph of big government is purely in the practice of never doing as well at anything as you can. This is what I mean by how the armed citizen impeaches the need for so many, many programs which attempt to take your place after disabling the liberty safeguards put in place.

Many of those were put in place by the Founders purely to impeach big government. Now, we know what they knew about tyranny.

We change minds one child/youth at a time in 4H Youth Shooting Sports. Many of our kids do not get exposure to firearms at home any longer and 4H introduces youth to safe handling of firearms and the fun they bring. I'm also confident that it prevents these next-generation kids from being swayed by stupid, unfounded anti-gun rhetoric.
