Yes, editors are getting it. Even the Los Angeles Times seems to understand the purpose of the second amendment when it writes that its health is the same as the health of the first amendment. Since 2003, I have said that the health of the second amendment is the primary indicator of the overall health of the nation. The Times wrote that it did not want selective enforcement from non-incorporation, because people could then come after the fourth estate on those same grounds. Thinking in terms of survival, The Times might as well have said that they see the second amendment in action as clearly as gun owners do. Breakthrough. To any publisher, censorship is the equivalent of gun control. See that article here.
The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States is not even about guns; It is much more about how some rights actually define who is the sovereign in this system and how we are to be free from the inevitable over-reach of our public servants in every single generation. The beauty and genius of the second amendment is that it is done non-violently, and not at all in the violence as some characterize fighting tyranny. Why should it?
My ally and colleague Dave Workman remarks that his article is a shameless plug for his book, America Fights Back. It's a superb showcase of instances of resistance when it counts the most. I have been known to give shameless plugs for my book, and right now you're going to get to know me a little better. But news, commentaries and even shameless plugs have the same purpose of speaking to the electorate.
Safer Streets 2010 - How the repeal of all gun laws will free America is a revised e-book edition of my hardcover edition, Safe Streets In The Nationwide Concealed Carry Of Handguns. Meeting Dependency And Violent Crime With American Spirit, Independence, and Citizen Authority. [It's that Citizen Authority part that interests readers!] Safe Streets hardcover is the only second amendment book on the Dr. Laura Reading Corner Catalog and it's been there since January 12, 2009. Other talkradio hosts showcase the book not as a gun book, but as a family book written for non-gun owners who are just as interested in freedom and liberty as everyone else is. The revised edition as an e-book [Safer Streets] for immediate download is the way to go for 2010 households before the November election. It's short and to the point.
Several questions come from non-gun owners: how do we trust armed citizens throughout the day when they do not face grave danger? Answered.
Don't Americans have the right to impose sensible regulation? Answered. Shouldn't there be a balance between gun owners and non-gun owners? Answered.
Aren't gun owners Vigilante? Answered. Aren't gun owners taking the law into their own hands? Answered. How does the second amendment really fight tyranny in the 21st century? Answered.
How has gun control brought us all a bigger government, and how can the repeal of gun laws return us to a smaller government? Answered.
This one's going to be one to finish before November. This edition was written for November.

John: Why isn't someone going on the talk circuit to promote these books and by talk circuit I am not talking about television talk shows but actually meeting people in various areas like hotel convention centers where people can come and hear in person and ask questions? In the old days they road from town to town and talked in churches or town squares. Why not something like that today with the gun rights examiners in each state? The internet is fine but a public display goes much further and becomes personal. There is a big difference between sitting in front of a monitor screen and being there in person and making the effort to attend. Might be something to think about and it would be the next logical step as oposed to just writing about it.
When you say 'talk circuit', I take you mean speaking bookings (with juicy fees). My book is in its fifth year, third edition. This was how it started: I was asked to speak to a group in L.A. after I'd posted my CPR corollary on a chat room (when it was only two elements) and people told me I ought to write a book. They kept me there for two hours after the 25-minute talk was over.
I have been on over 100 radio shows since, including KFI Los Angeles three times, Premiere Radio Networks worldwide twice (in January 2008 and December 2007 before that), and Lou Dobbs, to name a few. I have found two hours on talkradio to be the most effective in reaching people, and articles second most effective.
Wanted to organize a speakers bureau to clone the formula... but that didn't generate much interest.
Actually, Robert, to stay on topic, thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate it personally.
Excellent work as always Mr. Longenecker
The First 10 Amendments to the Constitution as Ratified by the States December 15, 1791
PREAMBLE Congress OF THE United States.
"THE Conventions of a number of the States having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best insure the beneficent ends of its institution.."
Amendment II "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

John I want to thank you for the following statement
[The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States is not even about guns; It is much more about how some rights actually define who is the sovereign in this system and how we are to be free from the inevitable over-reach of our public servants in every single generation.]
John I wish more Americans including gun owners understood the statement you made above.
Sovereignty is Our Authority and Jurisdiction to Engage in Acts or Actions Delegated of the High Powers that Supercede the Legislative Powers of the State.
It is the essence of a God Given Right.
To me John my right to keep and Bear arms is more than my 2A right its also my 1st amendment right to worship as I choose and the right to obey my creator without a permission slip from government.
Thats why I hate the Illinois FOID card law and become so disgusted with those that try to keep it alive
I have been receiving e-mails about how to spread this understanding. I appreciate every single encouragement and thanks I receive. In answering these kind words, I emphasize linking to the GRE's as a total lineup. Each of us has a different beat on the same liberty: I do liberty and relate it to home; other GRE's have their beat and specialty. Each is precious in motivating the non-gunowners in meaningfulness to our homes and smaller government.
Another way to spread the word is to opt-in to the Safer Streets Newsletter as a vehicle for more liberty content for the mainstream. You can also SHARE the newsletter's URL for each edition if it so moves you by selecting that SHARE button at the bottom of the Newsletter.

And thanks.
