Socialism begins by undermining safeguards in a nation which protect its sovereignty, such as it may be from nation to nation. It works everywhere around the globe. What works is the undermining, not the socialism. That never works. Liberals are great at demolishing, and no good at all at building. Even socialist countries have admonished the U.S. to throttle back a bit. Their survival depends a great deal on our freedoms, not so much their own.
Socialism itself does not work in the sense you might expect: justice, equality and safety. It works only for the elite who profit by the control of others, through penalties of others, and transfers of wealth from others, and to do this, they need your cooperation somewhat.
How a nation is easily taken down is by undermining the society by lip service and critical thinking fraud. Call it issue-spotting, if you like. The statement of the issues and the statement of the solutions are made to sound reasonable and even necessary, but for two things: the underminers created the crisis to begin with, and they shift gears away from what they promised and pull a bait-and-switch once you agree with their assessment.
How does this work with guns and how does gun control bring us to socialism? It does it by banning weapons of everyone on the crises of high crime of criminals, and when the electorate experiences a void in fighting crime, government substitutes itself for your first safeguard that was doing it a lot better. Since government cannot really take your place, crime grows, and a whole family of adverse policies can then thrive.
With the Fort Hood shooting, we see how one of those programs – Political Correctness – has been substituted for free speech, honest investigation and courageous truth, all safeguards of our nation. This lousey substitute is backed by police powers of the state, and it will never take the place of free thought and expression, but it will control people. It will turn American against American as more are only too eager to be angry at honest dialog. Conservatives need to run on a liberty plank of reversing Political Correctness along with reversing all gun control. Conservatives need to run on a total liberty platform of unwinding all leftist programs and they need to say it fast.

One of the important things liberals need to understand is this: unless you hate America enough to yourself live with a loss of your own freedoms in the next few years, you won't like socialism in the least. Your kids won't either, no matter what you expect in social conscience and justice from the left. Other peoples around the globe hate it. And they had the same early warning signs we're now getting: crisis after crisis, gun control, tolerance, education changes, statism, and all of it.
Statists in office are tragically ill personalities. They are control freaks on steroids. Without the delusion that the people are stupid, officials have no personal sense of purpose. Without official recognition of our sovereignty over them, officials have no sense of purpose. Officials are not smarter than the electorate, they're meaner and more cold-blooded than we are, but not smarter. They are not better informed than we are: they ignore liberty truths and are informed of nothing by comparison. The truth is that officials have only that authority which we grant them. We retain all supreme authority in this country, and it is this which they ignore against the interests of the United States herself. Without crisis, manufactured by them or not, there is no sense of purpose for them. The truth is that they are truly unneeded for so many programs.
Gun control is and always has been the vanguard test and probing stimulus of what the people in any nation will tolerate. Gun control is always the first strike against a nation. If you ever studied Business, Law, or any Medicine at all for any medical profession, the case-study method is a precious learning tool not for knowledge per se, but for deeper understanding. Please let the fates of other nations be those cases for your own deeper understanding of what awaits America in an utter dependency on officials whose sense of purpose is only to insist against our election to resist in a nation of self-rule.

Since 1900 every country that has banned gun ownership from the general population has ended up with genocide within its borders. An argument of genocide might even be presented in the case of Great Britain when one looks at the racial/regligious terrorist acts. These are facts anyone can look up. A government does not have to respect an unarmed slave population but they do have to respect the wishes of an armed citizenry that will fight to keep their right to bear arms. The Constitution and Bill of Rights including the second amendment are contradictory to the principles of socialism. If Americans let their government take away their right to the second amendment then all of the other amendments and the constitution will have no defense since their defenders will now be unarmed and at the mercy of a government that no longer wants to answer to the people, it's boss. Give up the second amendment and you are nothing more than a slave.
Right, Robert. Part of the problem has been that the electorate has not been able to relate 2A to their other rights; they presumed that gov't will protect rights, which is does not do.
Second, much of this generation believes gov't will take care of them even if they surrender some right (as if it's a two-way bargain of some sort). It never is.
Then comes the adult realization of the idea that being independent now takes on a new youthful glow. -- as if they were the first to discover it!
That's the stupidity of every crop of liberals: they're always the last to know and they think they're the first to know!!
And once again we see a 2nd amendment proponent turning this issue into a broader, anti-liberal hit piece. I'm not going to argue that point. I'm just going to state a simple fact. You have no idea how many valuable allies you are pushing away by unnecessarily forcing broader political issues onto a narrower one.

Jason, unless I am mistaken, it seems like you simply do not understand all that is at stake. Although so called "allies" might be pushed away, if they don't understand, such as yourself, they are in fact NOT allies. Socialism doesn't work. History provides that truth for us in countless, documented instances. The Second Amendment is THE only thing standing between us and them. The one thing that alot of (ignorant,arrogant) people don't understand is that nowhere in the Constitution or The Bill of Rights states that everyone should be equal or any individual be provided for. Granted, we have programs that cater to the truly needy, but these are all too often taken advantage of. Which is why so many of them are lacking in available funds. That, and greedy politicains (from both sides) not having the common sense to understand simple economics. You can't take money from program (A) to provide for program (B), when alloted funds are less than what the total is for all legal recipients....
And although many things have been set in motion that I nor much of anyone else had any control over, I will never willfuly succumb to an egotistical, maniacle, over-indulgent, self proclaimed Soveriegn of this Nation. What we call our Elected Officials, are equivalent to a giant tumor that has been growing and mutating over the past several decades into a fullblown cancerous entity. If it continues to grow, there will be no stopping it peacefuly.
So back to the original article. The two go hand in hand.
The 2nd Amendement issuse is the most important issue of all. Ask an anti-gun politician- If you don't trust me, why should I trust you with my vote.

The 2A has taken hits and recovered, its cyclical. No one ideology threatens it and no one ideology shields it. The last Republican president would have renewed the AWB if it had got to his desk and did little for gun owners. The previous Bush signed anti gun legislation, and it was Reagan whose national park carry ban Obama (unwillingly) just got rid of.
I have no problem with you expressing your outrage over Obama or any politician. That's what this country is about. But you are wrong if you think that you can't discuss 2A issues without turning it into a right wing fest. It's not true, and again, it hurts the cause. My money spends as well as yours, and the NRA and other groups aren't getting it because they've made it clear that I'm not "one of them."
We would not have shall issue CCW in 80% of the country if only the right was in favor of it. It took convincing moderates and even horrible "commies" like me.
Mr Longnecker is right about socialism. Exactly right. And the single biggest threat to our personnal freedoms is selective application of the law. One person gets away with what another goes to jail for. It's being done at all levels of government. The city councilman who got a DUI and walked, the Congressman who defrauded taxpayers and got re-elected. I wish it was as simple as just guns, but, no doubt we will need them sooner than later. How much are you willing to give to stay free?

Undermine America's great big mighty SOCIALIZED military that builds the absolute best while it protects your freedoms and it's sovereignty and see how fast you're taken down. Undermine the fact capitalism is creating the crimes that make people control your guns. I suggest you pass legislation that gives criminals their guns back before your wife has your weapons taken away.
