Shooting range murder (UPDATE)

UPDATE:

The story last week out of Pennsylvania about a lawyer who had been murdered at a public shooting range has taken a very strange turn. A 64 year-old man has been arrested, and the district attorney in charge of the case says the suspect killed his victim in a quest to help overthrow the government.

Raymond Franklin Peake, of Hampden Township, Pennsylvania, was arrested on charges of homicide, robbery, aggravated assault and conspiracy in the July 21 killing of Todd Getgen, 42, at a Pennsylvania Game Commission shooting range. Peake says Getgen was dead when he arrived at the range, but the district attorney says Peake shot the lawyer and stole his rifle to help arm an unnamed organization intending to overthrow the government. Another man, a co-worker of Peake at a state prison where they are corrections officers, has been arrested on theft charges.

Todd Getgen leaves a widow and 6 year-old son.

Many people in Arkansas use public (Arkansas Game and Fish) ranges, and most of these are in rural settings, sometimes miles from the nearest person. If most range users are like me, they have more than one firearm with them when they visit. Visiting these ranges alone is similar to carrying a large amount of cash to an ATM at night; criminals know the potential for people with valuables visiting a certain place is very high. Look for parked cars when arriving at the range. Do not stop if these vehicles are unattended. Take someone with you, and always carry a means of self-defense on your person.

Criminals will kill you for your expensive firearm, and they are killing for very strange reasons.
