Don’t let the bullets hit you in the rear on the way out

Sunday, I reported about a Diamondhead, Arkansas citizen shooting a police officer in self-defense.  This was not the only self-defense shooting in the state in the last few weeks.  On August 30th, Timothy Friedman entered the National Home Pharmacy in Fort Smith with the intention of robbing the drugstore of narcotics. He carried a handgun stolen from a neighboring Leflore County, Oklahoma deputy. Minutes later, he left the pharmacy with his stolen prize of drugs, but also earned a bullet wound in the rear end as he exited the building. The owner of the business, Jeff Fenwick, had pulled a handgun as Friedman walked toward the door and opened fire upon the criminal.

My first fear was the owner was now subject to arrest for shooting a fleeing criminal, as this homeowner in Garland County was earlier this year. Thankfully, Prosecuting Attorney Dan Shue decided Fenwick was protecting his employees and himself when he opened fire upon Friedman. During the robbery, Friedman had threatened everyone in the drugstore with death if the police were called. This video shows the criminal nearing the front door, then turning back toward the counter. Owner Fenwick thought Friedman had seen police arriving and was turning to fire, so he opened up with his own firearm, shooting Friedman in the posterior.  Friedman was arrested later at a Talihena, Oklahoma hospital and is now fighting extradiction.

I take two positives from this event:

  • Fort Smith citizens are arming themselves and refusing to become a victim. Jeff Fenwick should be commended for standing strong against this thug and protecting his people.
  • Prosecuting Attorney Dan Shue has come through again on the side of law-abiding, gun-owning citizens. Sebastian County residents may remember his quick decision about repealing the gun ban at Ben Geren Park.

I say, “Great job by both men!”

Update:
Military imposter caught, let go, then caught again in Alaska

I reported on William Clark, the perpetual impersonator in early August here. Two weeks ago, Fairbanks, Alaska police captured Clark, but failed to hold him. He had not shown up on any of Alaska’s felony checks, and Fairbanks police also failed to check the federal criminal database until it was too late. Clark was later apprehended 400 miles from Fairbanks in a virtual wilderness area. This is great news, and maybe this time years of jail cell time await this scum.
