After several failed bomb attempts, what will the terrorists do next? STRATFOR.com is a web site of civilian intelligence resources, doing consulting for international businesses. Stratfor writer Scott Stewart has observed that the radical Islamists have a problem: Their excellent bomb makers don't travel well, and their cohorts who are able to blend in and travel to America and Europe aren't very good at making bombs. They state that all the recruits get hand to hand, rifle, grenade and RPG training, but bomb making takes much longer and requires higher aptitude and motivation for their followers. Their best bombers don't speak English, and can't really pass in western society. What do you do? STRATFOR believes that they will switch gears a bit. While they love crashing planes and blowing up buildings, they may have to settle, for the time being, on hand weapon attacks such as Nidal Hasan at Ft. Hood, and the D.C. snipers accomplished.
Such was the method in Mumbai, India in 2008. The terrorists landed a boat at the harbor, then walked up toward the hotel district shooting anybody in their way. At the hotels, they holed up for several days causing mayhem, terror, and set fire to the Taj hotel. They were unchallenged because nobody had a gun except the few police officers they encountered, and many of them had no bullets. 125 people died before it was over, and it rocked all of India for weeks which was the purpose.
American police are better armed and trained than those in India, but as we know seconds count in an armed attack. We need citizens who are armed in their homes and in their places of work. I wondered at the time of the attack in India how the scenario would have played out at the port of Galveston, TX. The terrorists know hard targets and soft targets. Would they seek to hit a hard target? No. Scott Stewart ends his piece with an observation of how America is different, but also similar for their purposes:
"The number of people in the American public who are armed can also serve as a mitigating factor, though many past attacks have been planned at locations where personal weapons are prohibited, like the Los Angeles International Airport, Fort Hood and Fort Dix." Stratfor.com (May 27th)
We need to get across the message that normal people are no less normal if they are armed. If this becomes the favored method for terrorists, we will need our guard up and weapons close at hand.

I cannot argue against the logic of the article but I am afraid, as much as I hate to say it, is that it is going to take a huge massacre on American soil by a group of armed men in a city that banned guns from it's civilians before America wakes up and demands the right to defend itself. No government has the right to demand that citizens become a terrorist targets on the basis of the government forbiding its citizens from defending themselves with guns equal to those of armed terrorists if the need should arise. 9/11, Fort Hood, and smaller incidents have already proven that the government cannot protect all of the people all the time. And to compound matters the government can't be sued because it would have to issue you an IOU if it lost the court fight. A bankrupt government has no right to tell people how they may or may not defend themselves because even if the cops could protect the citizens those cops might walk off the job one day because they are not paid. Good luck folks.
Theories aplenty but reality is somewhat more stark in it's impact. The "terrorists" are committed to body counts. Moreover they really like everything to be presented on T.V., especially when they can control the manner of presentation and content and they do that everyday.
With what I know to be the penetration of our country by their operatives, as well as the support of others, I am left with the assessment, that they haven't acted because they aren't ready and/or haven't received a green light. If this is so, it isn't a good sign. So we ask the intelligence question why?
The action implies control and therefore planning and restraint which is typical of the organized group. The bomb thrower & gun waver isn't part of the group but maybe used by them as diversion & for intel purposes, leaving the group free to proceed unmolested & unobserved. Why?
The group is planning something "big" at a particular time. Big as in NBC and in that precise order because and make good TV.
I don't intend to wait or ask for anybody's "permission" to be armed and prepared to defend myself. I'm also not going to wait for anyone else to defend me.
And yes, the fewer "disarmed victim zones" we tolerate, the fewer targets any man man will have.
...though many past attacks have been planned at locations where personal weapons are prohibited... Ain't this the truth, one area where the Politicians, Law Enforcement and the Offenders all agree. They want the public disarmed.
Are we seeing a change of strategy for terrorists?
IMHO, not at all. Proponents of Islam are actively engaged in effecting their intended goal of converting, enslaving or killing all non-believers using every available method.
As proponents of this particular ideology, a terrorist is definable as but one among the followers without an army of sufficient size and ability to overthrow an existing government, engaging in acts of terrorism as part of an overall means to attempt to bring about social and political change.
Islamists are making significant advances in every avenue of pursuit in America, using the exact same manners and methods proven successful in other parts of the world. Unfortunately, proponents of the ideas, ideals and principles embodied as that of the American Constitutional Republic are currently losing the struggle of attempting to maintain the Republic on every identifiable level. Islam being advanced in America is but one of many examples.
Islam tactics: immigration and collapse the target from the inside. Europe. Africa. US. Indonesia. Russia. 1400 years of virus.
The muslim-in-theif is collapsing the country with his allies.
