Sour grapes from gun grabbers as National Parks gun amendment passes

Anti-gun pundits can scarcely hide their disdain for gun owners in the face of yet another defeat, this time as legislation to reinstate the Bush rule change permitting law-abiding concealed handgun license holders to bring their firearms with them into National Parks passed both the Senate and the House and is headed to President Obama's desk.

While most legislators know that the majority of their constituents support gun rights, those who would like to take them away blame the "powerful gun lobby" and insinuate that they buy their agenda at "the frustration and discouragement of many Democrats" while the media runs headlines like "Guns Rule Congress" and somberly point out that "the White House is lukewarm at best on the gun provision" as they lament that "a majority of Democrats in the House and Senate still typically come down on the side of gun control."

“It is a shame,” said Senator Barbara Boxer, Democrat of California. “But you have to come to a realization around here that at this point in time, the NRA gets the votes.”

She goes on to add, "I will just vote my conscience on those amendments and speak out until people get a hold of their senses." Apparently she feels that anyone who supports the Second Amendment has lost their mind.

ABC News, who has recently become even more rabid in support of the gun ban agenda, echoes that sentiment, crying that legislators are "frightened by the mighty NRA." Closer to the truth would be that legislators are afraid of going against the wishes of those who elected them, the same people who will be at the polls next time.

The result was that the National Parks gun amendment "was approved 279 to 147, with 174 Republicans and 105 Democrats backing it; 145 Democrats and 2 Republicans opposed it." Senator Tom Coburn, who introduced the amendment, explained why. “I don’t like guns necessarily, what I want is those constitutional rights to be protected.”

A legislator who wants rights protected, even if he doesn't personally "like" them. That's how Congress is supposed to work.

Frankly I am so sick and tired about those who oppose our second amendment and want to take away our rights of law abiding citizens to carry firearms. Maybe these people need to pack up there belongings and move to another planet coz they are not Americans

...Frank, I am more then sick and tired of the anti-Americans, and you made a great point of this. "They" need not move to another planet though,"they" just need to leave America. Perhaps Canada, or Europe, Asia, Africa, etc. Anywhere in which American values of freedom, free enterprise, and our Constitutional Republic of law are non existent. There are many places for them. But not America, not on my life !

The reality here in America is that if an elected official votes and supports gun control they will be voted out of office!

That is the core value of the Americans who support the 2ND amendment of the Constitution, We have that right to vote out those officials who don't line up with our beliefs. Yes the NRA gets the votes because of the grass-root fiber of this great nation. Just ask John Kerry.

... these anti-gunners ask why "deal with REALITY when EMOTIONS are more convenient". With that fact in mind I'm sending the NRA-ILA another $20.00 donation. MONEY WELL SPENT!!!

What I find interesting is that at least some, if not all, of the legislators don't know who makes up the "powerful gun lobby" the NRA.

The real point is simply, these polititions are lying still. they are not voteing their beliefs but their jobs as employees of the people. therefor they must be watched carefully. most of them do not honor their oaths of office and have amply proven. their oath is to support, obey, and protect the Constitution of the United States. They, for money and power, have not done this therefore they have committed treason. Time to clean house folks. Time to take our country back and send a message that

we will no longer tolerate such treasonous activity. Have you ever heard the saying "to divide is to conquer"? that is what the media has been encourageing with single issue issues. I propose a single issue that covers all issues. force our hired help to obey their oath of office. That is simply to UPHOLD AND PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Any abridgement of this oath is treason and WILL bring the death penalty if convicted. Just being accused would make any of the mor

e honest members mess their pants. our Constitution says that our government is "OF THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE". Too many of the people have been brainwashed so they no longer realize what this means or care.

I hate to say this but judging by the past, there will come a time when all of these Constitutional battles will come about full face again. It seems inevitable. The only real way for things to change for the better is for all of the bleeding hearts in this nation be ignored. By that I mean any time someone is sentenced for a crime of treason or murder or rape or any other crime so vile and contorted that does deserve death, should be carried out, no matter how wrong and inhumane it might seem t

I do not know Senator Coburn's history, but I believe he deserves some recognition for his support of this particular gun rights issue.

Ignoring your particular views and doing the right thing. Not very common in DC.

We're so accustomed to getting our teeth kicked in by the anti-gunners that we actually celebrate when Congress passes a bill mandating unconstitutional federal controls on the Credit Card Industry (see Article 1, Section 8, U.S. Constitution); and Congress used the pro-gunners desire for validation of the 2nd Amendment to get it done.

They cannot touch the second amendment without a constitutional convention, and until they do, all laws contrary are null and void.

Lets have another civil war, us gun owners will win and the pen weilders will lose, they want you disarmed so they can do what they want to you with their pens.

My rifle keeps these people from owning me, they want slaves.

Those that hammer their swords into plows end up plowing for those that did not. Think on that one.

Make it a capital offense to violate your oath of office, the BS would end tomorrow.
