This isn't the first time the City of Lorain has faced runaway violence due to the drug trade. It got so bad in the seventies that four police officers, including current police chief Cel Rivera, formed what was dubbed the "shotgun squad" and patrolled the streets after hours as a plain clothes unit.
Yesterday, another person was shot in the city, becoming the sixth shooting victim in the last two weeks. Lorain's Morning Journal reports that citizens are justifiably concerned for their safety.
"Where can you go where it's OK in Lorain anymore," a Grove Avenue resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said. "I don't think it's the police department's fault. They do the best they can with what they've got, but I'm scared to leave my house these days."
The latest shooting victim, 24-year-old Delno Clayton, refused to tell police where he was when shot leading to speculation that illegal activity was involved.
Those law-abiding residents who are scared of getting caught in the crossfire have the option of taking responsibility for their own safety by fighting back. There have been many stories in the news in Ohio and across the country of armed citizens prevailing over criminal attackers. Citizens have the right to bear arms as protected by both the Ohio and United States Constitutions.
Open carry of a firearm is legal in Ohio. Concealed Carry licenses are also available and are not too expensive at $67. Get a gun, get training, and fight back. I'm not advocating vigilantism of course, this is simply about taking responsible steps to ensure your won safety as well as that of your family rather than putting yourself at the mercy of a desperate criminal. You have rights and those rights could very well save your life.

Unfortunately, drugs and the associated violence, IS a RACIAL issue, and to address it as such IS to be labeled a RACIST. The Black and Hispanic "communitees" are quick to blame everything on the "white folks", while seeking to protect the very activities that are turning our cities into uncivilized "Hell Holes". I'm sick and tired of hearing witnesses to violent crimes, tell the police "I did't see nothing", then turn around and blame the same police for not DOING ANYTHING !!! If the Black and Hispanic Communitees really WANT to assume their rolls in a CIVILIZED country, then start accepting some of the responsibilities that go along with being "civilized" ! If not, then go back to whatever "jungle" they came from, where that type of life style is considered "normal" !! Sign me "one ANGRY white guy" !!!!

I grew up with firearms in the home and was taught right from wrong, but these idiot parents high on drugs and being w reckless parents were not.
Then (wait, I am not religious), but they took that out of the schools and out of everything else, look what we have as a society we have become.
A bunch of kid killing machines almost as bad, but close to heading that way, as a 3rd world country!
I don't even want to leave the house now and I'm sure not many want to either!
At least the drug addicts are still too screwed up to go out in the morning!

I can't believe I haven't had ONE radical Liberal scream "RACIST" at me for my posting ! Could it be that our Society is actually starting to ignore the "fantasy" and go with the FACTS. Those facts ARE that racism WILL exist, as long as there is such a great DISSIMILARITY between the life styles of the races. And, until such time that Blacks, and now Hispanics choose to adopt the "civilization" this Country was founded upon, there will always be that "dissimilarity". When we have 12% of our population, committing 80% of our violent crime, THAT is "dissimularity" in its purest form ! And when I start to see the "leaders" of our Black and Hispanic communitees, actually accepting responsibility for the problems , instead of blaming everything on the "whites", progress will be noted. Face it, "civilization", as we understand it, may NOT be acceptable to certain races, if they continue to aspire to their "Tribal" customs. Meanwhile,,,I'm cleaning my guns !!
