Marriott appears to comply with gun boycott. Stay tuned for further information.
Grass Roots North Carolina began a “Don’t Buy” campaign against Marriott International after its Charlotte hotel took money from and then made inadvertent criminals of hundreds of gun owners by posting “no firearms” signs during the weekend of the NRA convention and GRNC’s “Gala for Gun Rights.” Marriott confessed to a prohibition on firearms in all of its properties, many of which were posted.
After GRNC began the effort and Gun Rights Examiners Paul Valone, Dave Workman and David Codrea and others ran it, the boycott immediately “went viral,” appearing on forums across the country and generating untold numbers of contacts to Marriott – many of which were from Marriott’s “Rewards” members who supported the boycott. On Sunday, the Marriott boycott made nationally-syndicated radio on Tom Gresham’s “Gun Talk.”
Today, upper level Marriott executive Keith Thomas told GRNC board member Bill Krupicka that signs from the Charlotte property had already been removed, and that signs across the country will be removed promptly, further giving his apologies for the corporation's actions.
Please bear in mind that this victory is conditional: Marriott has not yet confirmed its policy, and a public apology to the gun owners staying in and traversing the Marriott across the weekend of the NRA convention has not yet been issued. Accordingly, please do not relax pressure against Marriott International yet. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Good job, Paul!
That is great for the people of Charlotte, and ths one location, but wat about the rest of the hotels that Marriott has their name on?
Marriott, Renaissance, EDITION, Autograph Collection, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, TownePlace Suites, SpringHill Suites, & The Ritz-Carlton ?
IDPA shooter: As noted in the article, initial reports are that this will not just be Charlotte, but Marriott properties throughout the country. We will be working to confirm that this morning.
The key will be a real change in corporate policy. Anything else will be just words.
Any business has a right to deny entrance to armed people. No argument. I have every right to do business with those who do not require me to disarm.
We shall see what happens.
My wife makes the point with Marriott that she bought a handgun(s), took training, got a CCW permit so she could be responsible for her own safety. Marriott, Inc., cannot provide enough security at its properties to keep women safe from robbers, rapists, and murderers. There is no reason, except to be politically correct in some areas, for Marriott to have a no guns allowed policy. Like a sign will stop a criminal from leaving his gun in the car. Yeah, right. Regardless what Marriott says, we need to keep writing and calling. They need to know the firestorm they have set off -- if they don't know already. Also, did anyone send the Charlotte Marriott story to the NRA because Marriott has lots of properties in the Pittsburgh area where the national convention will beheld next year.
I just walked across the street from my office in Charlotte and sign is still posted on the front entrance of the hotel.
I just got a canned response from them that was an excuse but not an apology with a warning at the bottom that if I shared it with anyone I could be prosecuted. Does that sound like a threat? The response was insulting and I told them so. The pressure should be upped against the Marriott hotels even further if they do not remove the signs, announce a reversal of their anti-gun policy, and remove this legal threat from e-mails they send in response to guest/citizens. This hotel chain should be made to pay the price for their actions that placed so many people in harm's way every day across the country when they travel and not just over the Charlotte incident. I have contacted friends from Virginia to California and one that owns a public relations firm who have agreed to avoid Marriott for the time being. This should also be a warning to other companys that have this kind of behavior pattern.
Also keep in mind that they're still sending out their lying list of excuses to people who write them promising to honor the boycott. I received one just this morning (5/25).
No. Do not let them up, even if they do all you ask. One instance of this is too much to tolerate or forgive. Others will learn from it if Marriott doesn't get away with it for a few cheap words of insincere apology.
Rec'd today (5-26) from their Customer Service line an email with the same "Marriott is committed to following the law..." nonsense earlier reported.
No, they haven't changed.
