FREEDOM: What the left wing of 'digg' cannot 'bury'

While much has been said of liberal censorship via proposals for “Fairness Doctrine,” censorship is already being directed at conservative, particularly pro-gun, voices on the Internet. At digg.com, left-wing activists of the moveon.org or Daily Kos bent are working to “bury” pro-freedom articles and thereby prevent them from appearing in the popular site’s search engine.

The effort to suppress the popularity of articles and limit their distribution is best summarized this bitter message of hate posted by Zomgondo:

“I despise Ayn Rand wingnuts. If you post in favor of Ron Paul, guns, or any other crackpot porn I ‘will’ bury you. Tip of the day nobody listens to you because YOU ARE FULL OF S%!%. F^$& off and die kthx.”

FREEDOM: What the lefties of digg don’t want you to have

You know, I started to write this piece a few days ago and decided against. I figured that I could almost understand it if the quasi-communists hated gun rights and buried that. But the piece they just buried didn’t center on gun rights, it centered on FREEDOM.

Guess that tells us what liberals want, doesn’t it?

That’s right: What they “buried” yesterday was entitled, “What is your state’s Freedom Index?” and centered on a study entitled “Freedom In The 50 States: An Index of Personal and Economic Freedom.”

For a description of how they use automated “bury” scripts to silence you, go to: http://atomicpoet.wordpress.com/2009/03/04/evil-digg-techniques/

Like assassins in the night, either coordinated or singly, these quasi-communists used “bury” for a piece on personal freedom, while remaining cowardly and anonymous.

FREEDOM: Will you let them bury YOURS?

If not, do the following four things:

  • “Digg” not only this piece, but the original at: “What is your state’s Freedom Index?”
  • “Shout” this piece to everyone you know, since it will probably disappear from digg;
  • Show them you won’t tolerate their fascism: zomgondo and drakoi, for example, both have “favorite” articles on the left side of their pages. Selecting the applicable article will reveal the dreaded “bury” button. From there, it is up to you;
  • Tell digg.com to: (1) Eject the “buriers;” (2) Limit the number of “burys” per day from a single user; and (3) End use of automated bury scripts.

FREEDOM: ‘Braveheart’ said it best

The oppressed people of Scotland – subjugated by the same line of English kings American framers revolted against – rose up under William Wallace and defeated the Brits at the battle of Stirling Bridge. It was to honor that call to freedom that when I organized a “Solidarity March” of 1,000 people in support of the NRA annual convention in Charlotte in 2000, it was led by a bagpiper clad in a kilt.

Even in defeat, the William Wallace depicted in “Braveheart” refused to submit to the same oppression that these freedom-haters have in mind for you.

I leave you with his words:

    Wikipedia has some pretty damning information on Digg in the "Criticism" section.

    Talk about your straw man defense. "They", "The liberal media". I get my information from a multitude of resources from all shades of the political spectrum. This is the only place where I've heard anyone talk about restricting guns. The administration of the last 8 years did more to damage the rights of American citizens than this administration has ever thought of. Where was "The Examiner" then? Sure fight for your rights, just make sure you blame the right people, and not blame someone just because you may not like them.

    Eric,
    I think most that truly support freedom and gun ownership also stongly disagree with the Bush administration Patriot Act and the other unConstitutional things that administration did. I hadn't heard of the Examiner until late last summer so I can't say what other articles they reported on years ago. Also, don't forgot that the Obama Administration is considering a Patriot Act II behind the scenes and put one of the most strident abusers of government power in the seat of Attorney General. This man was Deputy AG during the Clinton era and oversaw such fantastic government actions such as Ruby Ridge, Waco and Elian Gonzales. Also, keep in mind that most of the Bush rights violations were perpetrated against those who weren't citizens and therefore don't have the legal protection of the Constitution. However, Bush never turned his goon squads to roast helpless women and children like Clinton, Reno and Holder did.
    All that said, no knowlegdable gun owner wants to be spied on by anyone, but ironically the spying is still going on under the Messiah.

    digg is not a search engine, it's a community.

    like any other market entity, you simply should not patronize them and/or build up a competative community of your own.

    your every visit to digg, every "digg this" icon you place on your web pages, brings them attention and revenue.

    however it is constructive to digg pro-gun articles in the interest of highlighting these morons and to change the gun rights dialogue, it is not constructive to try to change digg itself.

    Read this via a digg link. I bury a TON of stories now. Far more than I actually digg. I am not automated. But I do digg up the pro-freedom articles. I think the most powerful function of digg.com is "shout" and being able to find other people that dig the same kids of stories I dig, ya dig? Thanks for your article, however. Automated scripts are a bad idea.

    So much for free speech. You decry "censorship" on digg, yet you removed a long and insightful comment I left you. The difference between us is that I don't stop your statements from being made - I simply state that my friends have no interest in reading your drivel. You post an obviously biased article that states "gun freedom" is the most heavily weighed freedom, followed closely by the ability to home-school children. I most certainly don't think that that is a legitimate conclusion to post above all else: what about the loosest drugs law states? What about the states where I don't have to worry about religious persecution (if you don't believe me, try living in an overwhelmingly Mormon state as a non-Mormon or a Baptist state as a Jew - it exists)?
    That is why your articles are not dugg - because they are biased unscientific studies you use to push a Right-Wing political agenda. While I may be in support of gun rights and am more liberal, I'm not attempting to push several things on you under a thinly veiled pretense of being something else.
    You argue about freedom and democracy - which are not, and never will be linked. We have many laws in this country preventing democracy from taking hold - to preserve your freedoms. Digg is the democracy - but it only encroaches on what you believe is your RIGHT to change Digg. The truth is you have the freedom to be there - but no Right to impose your ideals there. Maybe when you stop your actual censorship (removing comments), and write articles that are of interest to the majority of Diggers, then there might be an exercise of democracy to determine that your articles are worth being read.

    Thomas Paine wrote in support of progressive income tax, as did Jefferson. They both also believed in an armed populas. John Adams started a system like "Obama care" and he was one of the writers of the Constituion. The gun debate serves as a distraction go get working people to vote against themselves and letting the trust fund babies and greed heads run us over. Liberals as just as willing saps in this scam. Take a close look at the people who run Brady, HCI et al. They are all right wing with mild liberals as rank and file. Nelson Sheilds is a corporate executive, Brady worked for Reagan (no 2d Amedment friend himself) Joseph D. McNamara works for a right wing think tank called the Hoover Institution. Meanwhile workers vote Republican, the same people who send jobs overseas, ran up the national debt, lets the private insurance companies to rip us off, and lets wall street criminals to run over all of our other rights. Want all of the Bill of Rights?
