Gun voters:
“About one week from now, you will receive a 2010 Census form in the mail” says the letter I received yesterday from the US Census Bureau. (Who but the government sends a letter saying you will receive a letter.) And do you know what the census means?
Power.
Political re-districting comes next, and whichever party wins control of the North Carolina legislature gets to draw the districts that lock power for 10 years.
Power.
On one hand, we’ve managed to keep our finger in the dyke to stop gun control advocated by the Obama administration and, closer to home, anti-gun leftists in the North Carolina legislature.
Power.
On the other, we’ve been unable to secure a committee hearing for our crucial Castle Doctrine bill (SB 928) because, frankly, the anti-gun majority in the legislature is large enough that they don’t need to listen to us.
But GRNC has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change all of that:
- Thanks to voter dissatisfaction, a record number of anti-gun incumbents in the North Carolina General Assembly have viable opponents;
- Meanwhile, the Democrat stranglehold on the NC Senate has self-destructed, but most importantly;
- The Supreme Court struck a blow for free speech by striking down the “McCain-Feingold Act” that prevented GRNC from using organizational money to tell people what politicians have been doing to them.
The result is a “Perfect Storm” potentially enabling gun rights supporters to chart a course for at least the next ten years.
But taking advantage of this “Perfect Storm” requires money. Frankly, it requires your money.
GRNC’s massive “Remember in November” candidate evaluation and voter education project will cost tens of thousands of dollars. Throw in radio ads and postcard election alerts into selected districts, and the result is expensive even for an all-volunteer organization such as GRNC.
Moreover, for the first time in GRNC’s history, we would like to be able to send “Remember in November” candidate surveys for all 480+ candidates for primary elections.
If GRNC has to curtail its election efforts, we will squander a rare opportunity to take back our rights. Because if anti-gun statists retain control of the General Assembly, you face 10 more years of trying to hang onto whatever gun rights you have left.
…unless you do something about it.
Here is how you can help position GRNC for the election:
- BUY A TICKET FOR GRNC’s SECOND AMENDMENT SYMPOSIUM featuring the lawyer who saved the Second Amendment: Alan Gura. The event is being held on May 14 right next to the NRA Convention in Charlotte to let you take advantage of one of the world’s biggest gun shows, then hop next door to help GRNC retake our state and country.
For tickets, go to: http://grnc.org/symposium_order.htm
- TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE DEAL BETWEEN GRNC AND FRONT SIGHT under which you can handgun training essential to defending your family and at the same time help GRNC raise money for the 2010 election by going to: http://grnc.org/frontsight.htm
Unlike some other organizations, GRNC is all-volunteer and vows to make efficient, effective use of your money.

ALAN GURA WILL BE IN CHARLOTTE: MEET HIM ON MAY 14!
Better yet, you can attend the NRA Convention just blocks away and see Sarah Palin earlier in the day. Seating is limited. For tickets, go to: |

I hate to be a kill joy, but the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees that Americans have the right to bear arms, as the courts have repeatedly held. What's all the excitement about? Oh, and P.S., the Supreme Court's decision allowing corporations to donate unlimited sums of money to support their candidates did not further free speech rights. And if you think government is onerous now, you ain't seen nothin' yet.
MSH: I don't know what planet you've been on, but the courts have not "repeatedly" ruled the 2nd Amendment affirms an individual right. The Supreme Court ruled it once, in Heller v DC. The lawyer who argued that case will address GRNC's Second Amendment Symposium on May 14. Second, the Court striking McCain-Feingold had nothing to do with allowing corporations to donate to candidates. Such donations are & will continue to be prohibited. What the Court ruled is that orgs like mine can run ISSUE ADS within 60 days of an election -- something that had been prohibited since 2002.
I am a democrat and a gun owner. I am perfectly happy with the current laws and yet again you paranoid conservative "democrats and the guv'ment wanna take our guns" make the rest of us look like backwards A-holes.
Thanks for that.
Nick: First of all, GRNC is non-partisan. Notice that I did not call for defeating Democrats, but rather for defeating those who would restrict our rights.
That said, however, you seem in denial about your party. I have fought (and killed) more than two dozen very bad gun control bills in the NC legislature. Hate to tell you, but each and every one was introduced by a Democrat.
You say you are "perfectly happy" with current laws (something I would argue, with more space), but it isn't about current laws. It is about continued encroachment on your rights.
You should worry less about how you "look" to your opposition, and more about keeping the freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. -- FPV
"those that hammer their swords into plows, end up plowing for those who did not". Think on that REALLY hard.
The real problem is they brainwash people into believing we have a democracy, because with a democracy, they can get you to vote away your rights. 51% of the people can vote to exterminate the other 49%.
We have a constitutional republic, and they cant touch the 2nd amendment without a constitutional convention, but they dont want anyone to know or think that. They cannot take our rights by force, they are trying to get your dumb neighbor to vote your rights away for you, and with all the vote rigging going on, they could do it, unless people start calling out those that try to label this a democracy, they will keep trying, and sadly alot of people are brainwashed enough to think they can do this to us. Turn off your TVs everyone, the CIA controls the MSM. They are using what they do to foreign countries by controling both sides of the debate in front of you, but not including you.
