Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista
by Matthew Bracken
Following up on our last book review of “Enemies Foreign And Domestic”, Matthew Bracken does it again with a great sequel entitled DOMESTIC ENEMIES: THE RECONQUISTA.
It begins five years later in a much darker America, which is becoming more of an overt police state following each fresh act of terrorism. The national economy is on the brink of total collapse, inflation and unemployment are soaring, and the cities are descending into ungovernable sinkholes of anarchy and ethnic violence.
After decades of uncontrolled illegal immigration, tens of millions of undocumented Hispanics begin to exert their political muscle, unafraid of a federal government hamstrung by political correctness. In frustration, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming have passed official "English Only" laws, and have unilaterally begun to deport illegal’s across their state borders.
Part two of this, three part series is set in the American Southwest, during a period of low-intensity civil war. The action takes place between Texas and California, but the story is mainly centered around New Mexico.
This sequel to Matthew Bracken's "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" more than lives up to the original work. Fast paced, exciting, engrossing, compelling, and thought provoking are all apt descriptions of the story line and the cast of characters brought to life in it.
The central character, Ranya, carries over from the first novel as she finds herself in a hellish environment of a future America where political correctness, rampant un-American ideology, political pandering, and an ongoing environment that ignores the growing illegal immigration and border issues that lead to insurrection and conditions more closely resembling a 3rd world nation.
Think it can't happen in America...to answer that question one need look no further than the illegal immigrant demonstrations of the summer of 2006 to realize that most of the conditions presented in Bracken's novel are projections of those very images displayed to us all on the news during at that time.
Can Ranya escape her federal government imprisonment; can she outthink and outfight both federal bureaucracy gone insanely amok, foreign mercenaries, and an entire state government that has given itself over to a "La Raza" and "Aztlan" mentality that is spreading its cessation tentacles through the southwest?.jpg)
Find out in this compelling read. And be prepared...the answers are neither clean nor all neatly wrapped up, but the GOOD NEWS is that the long awaited for third book in the series is now making its way out to the public. I received my, autographed copy, a few days ago. Stay tuned to this column for a future review.
The time has come...BUT if you can't wait then...
The Western Mass 912 Project will host a demonstration Thursday, May 21, 4:00-6:00 at 436 Dwight Street, Springfield, in opposition to the MA Legislature's proposed 25 percent sales tax increase. Jon Hurst of the Retailor Association of Mass. contends the 10K jobs and $41M in investment will be lost as a result of this action. There is also a newly proposed gun control bill by the Governor that will dramatically erode more of our right to "keep and bear arms". GOAL and NRA members are encouraged to join us at the State Building in Springfield. For more information, or to RSVP, visit our meetup at http://www.meetup.com/The-Western-Mass-912-Project/.

This kind of tripe is the product of a paranoid and racist mind. Get a freaking clue, jack@ss.
I don't delete my comments like some Examiners do when they either don't agree or haven't a clue how to respond. I'm going to leave this one from a person who is so "paraniod" they didn't leave a valid e-mail address (blowyourgun@sshole.com) and passed judgement upon a fictional work without reading it. I'll leave the rest of you to decide who's in need of in need of therapy and who the real "racists" are in America.
