What's wrong with Mexico: Corruption or American guns?

Sometimes it pays to look behind the rhetoric.

The Washington Times reported today that a Washington bureaucrat believes banning semi-automatic rifles will save Mexico’s government. But he ignores the real problem threatening Mexico's sovereignty. From the Times:

Interesting headline. I don't have the kind of command of the topic that you do, Howard. My uneducated guess would be US guns and corruption are different sides of the same coin. But if US guns weren't available, I imagine other firearm providers would quickly, and happily, fill the gap.

There is a difference between military guns and American public guns. I know this, so when I hear them saying that there was automatic gun fire, granades I know that they are not getting their guns from America because my bolt action rifle and even my AR-15 are not automatic and we can't even get grenades to play with. All I know is someone is lieing to them and they are being conned into believing that America's gun rights are the cause of Mexico's corruption. If you need to ban something ban corruption. I'm not even sure its illegal to take bribes there.

    Steven,

    Lets do a little math.

Avg cost of an AR 15 (semi auto) in the US around $1000

Avg cost of a fully automatic AK 47 from South America around $300

    Any questions?

How about legalization of drugs? The world is so hypocritical with its legalizataion, glorification, and advertisment of alcohol along with a huge prescription drug appetite. One cannot help but wonder about said worlds sanity. This buzz is ok, and all these buzzes are bad and illegal. State controlled distributed methodone good, induvidually procured and illegal heroin bad. All this government control i.e. laws and regulations have only caused suffering and death. Oh but they have created a huge source of revenue and jobs, and money is more important than human lives. Our world sucks, it is sickening.
