The most effective measure to prevent murder

It's always curious when a religious organization that relies on
the First Amendment for its existence attacks the Bill of Rights.

As the Supreme Court prepares to hear McDonald v. Chicago, challenging Chicago’s handgun ban, anti-self-defense proponents have tried to shift the focus onto public safety issues. But even when viewed from their perspective, homicide data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provides no support for the idea that fewer guns makes society safer.

I think someone needs to go back and read their Catechism.

That's right, venues with weak gun laws don't suffer from high violent crime rates comparatively speaking, but venues hundreds or even thousands of miles away with strict gun laws suffer from those weak gun laws. By remote control, I suppose. Or could it be that the public hasn't been informed that teleportation has been invented and perfected?

Oh wait, I think I discovered the flaw. They are lying because the reality does not lend itself to their fantasies. Damn! Whgat a surprise!

If someone is determined and desperate enough to want you dead, not even moats, castles and Air Force One can prevent your own murder. With that said, rarely does such determination take hold.

On a more practical level, Person A walks into Location B and randomly opens fire killing innocent Person C. Even if concealed carry licensee D then fires in self defense killing Person A, innocent Person C is still dead.

Since the time of Cain and Abel, and before if one holds to different theological views, murders have happened. Murders are going to continue to happen.

We need to be careful to avoid the same trap the other side is so fond of visiting--believing that if we just do X then there will be no murders. Poppycock. We can do things that reduce the murder rate, but we'll never reduce it to zero over time for any significant population group.

With 4 to 5 million people carrying concealed and falling crime rates, the dog of gun control still don't hunt.

Ken: True what you say. As long as there are persons of evil intent, there will be violence. (As opposed to self-defense, which stops violence.)

I am not sure what you mean by the "there will be no murders" claim.

Here, the anti-rights VPC claims that handgun bans make us safer. I noted the CDC data, which rebuts their claim. End of this story.

As you note, there remains a murder rate in RTC states, though for some strange reason, it's lower than in restricted-carry states. So it appears that the "concealed carry is dangerous" argument is also false.

At this point, I would agree with Straight Arrow. Since everybody has access to CDC data, VPC & Co. appear to be lying to advance their agenda.

But if they have to lie, how trustworthy are they, and how can their agenda be good for us? That's the question we should demand they answer, in public.
