More evidence that concealed carry benefits Blacks

New research shows that states with liberal concealed carry laws may be safer for Black Americans.
A previous article examined eight years of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) data, finding that in states with shall-issue concealed carry laws (aka right-to-carry or RTC), Blacks successfully defended their lives more often. Now it appears that Blacks are less likely to be murder victims in these states as well.

Great article! It solidifies what we have always instinctively known ... that armed citizens are safer citizens! Thanks for writing this!

If you do a study of who has a right to carry in restricted states you will probably find that most permits are issued to white people with minorities only getting permits if they are wealthy donors to political office holders and such. If minorities are to defend themselves they need the right to have access to CCW's as long as they can pass the test and background check like anyone else. Thank you for the article/stats but it needs to get to the minority population in the ten restricted states if we are to stop the erosion of gun rights. It does no good going to a select readership like us where it does not get spread around widely to minority groups. We need to enlist their help in these ten states.

Robert: That's a good point. Have you sent this along to your Black co-workers and friends? The last article got noticed by BlackGunOwners.org.

Why do you think this remains within "a select readership like us where it does not get spread around widely to minority groups"?

Sounds like a need to improve outreach. Any suggestions?

Howard, I talk about this stuff with various students of all races on my campus, in fact I have made several black friends by just being a 2nd Amendment advocate for everyone.

It is amazing what talking to people in a factual, caring manner can do. The readership should be sharing these articles with everyone regardless of race or stance on gun control

It is fortunate that concealed carry benefits more than just the carrier. It is unfortunate that there is such a racial and gender divide among the concealed carry population. On the basis of the scant data available with demographic data on concealed carriers, they are overwhelming male and whiter than the general population. If only more women and racial minorities would carry ...
