Merry Second Amendment Christmas
If it weren’t for his trusty handgun, Gary Wroblewski’s Christmas wouldn’t be merry.
Late on Monday night, December 14, when wheelchair-bound Mr. Wroblewski was about to retire to bed, he heard a knock on his front door.
“Our car broke down and we need some help,” said the young man.

Deliciously, the revolver in the picture is quite likely a Smith and Wesson model-3 safety hammerless. The last such was made in 1898. Any gun made before 1899 is "not a firearm" by the laws of the State of Texas.
Mr. Nemerov, while you write well, my concern is a skewing of view of Austin via Examiner.com/austin. As an examiner writer, a bit concerned that your stated "bias" is inappropriate to represent Austin or a News site. Your page appears to exist to support sales of your book. I can appreciate that, but not sure examiner is proper forum for your "Promotional Blog" as the site is classified as NEWS. Currently there are less than 9,000 sites across the entire internet able to obtain that designation. While you write well, your bias puts into question whether or not this is in fact news.
Greg Ackerman
Austin Concerts Examiner
After a bit of consideration, I am wondering if you are, in fact a victim of violence or are close to someone who has been. Any thoughts Mr. Nemerov?

I assume you've sent similar notes of concern to ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and so on? If not, perhaps we could table the discussion of any possible bias on the part of Mr. Nemerov till the unquestioned balance-of-bias against the public and in favor of leftist causes and champions is addressed? "Promotional Blog", indeed!
Mr. Ackerman, would you please send me a copy of your psychologist's licence? It would be a shame for you to be practicing analysis in public without a license.
If I were so inappropriate, then why does Google Analytics tell me that Austin is my second highest Texas market? You really need to collect some hard data before opening your mouth in public. Have you thought how your comments make you look? Not good marketing for either your column or Examiner.
This is from Mr. Ackerman's bio for his Examiner column: "Greg works as a professional audio technician and is currently involved with an emarketing company."
So he accuses me of writing a "promotional blog"? He writes about concerts, which employ audio technicians. What do you call it, when a person accuses another writer of committing the very sin the first is guilty of?
Ackerman, how can you have been writing for Examiner for so long and not recognize that political commentary is also part of the mix?
You do music reviews, that is opinion. Well in MY opinion, since you don't cover music I like, or have different opinions than I may on the worthiness of certain bands, you're unfairly skewing Examiner content to YOUR bias.
Horrors!
Dolt.
Good Lord, are you that thick?
I don't think it is a matter of "thick". I think it is a matter of the dehorned Texan so many of us are familiar with who seem to gravitate to Austin.
Amazing... not one word so far about the NEWS story covered in this article.
I'm very glad Mr. Wroblewski had a gun, and the opportunity to use it. However, the better part of self defense is avoiding the NEED to use a gun whenever possible. I really wonder why he would open the door at all, especially if he was suspicious.
Over and over I read about intruders who just walk in because the doors are not even locked!
The use of deadly force must always be the last resort. To do otherwise, and not take every other reasonable precaution, is to give our sworn enemies more excuses to disarm us all.
