Was Mr. Miles really taken into custody? I doubt it, but probably was to take a statement of what happened. Someone please comment. Liberals like Poe are trying to destroy our Second Amendment rights as well as Constitutional rights. He has no patriotism, little values and absolutely no class. He refuses to acknowledge statistics that prove more guns equals less crime. All hunters and gun owners need to drop their subscription to the liberal Commercial Appeal (if any subscribe to it).
Are you kidding me Alex? he was coming at them with a knife and he had 2 children with him? Deadly force wasn't necessary? And what would you do to protect your children? The aggressor made a choice to hurt, injure or kill. The armed victim won, the knife wielding aggressor lost. Seek help, get counciling, as you respectfully need it.

Some years back, I had 2 guys come into my business one evening. they intended to rob me. I spotted them and got a young girl customer to slip out and call the police. They arrived quickly for once but could not arrest either of the suspects so they were let go. I will never stop someone from trying me again. I will let them try and kill them. Why? because just 2 weeks later the big black guy killed a young woman while robbing her store. She had a husband and 2 kids. I knew her personally. I will never take that chance again. If the law turns a potential armed robber loose, as far as i am concerned the person responsible for giving that guy a break is guilty of whatever thae felon does. This guy had a very long rap sheet and had been convicted of armed robbery before. I do not wish to kill anyone. I love you--your local sheepdog.
Alex, I am sorry but I think your story about the girl is pure BS. However, if you can prove it I will apologize to you in spades. I give proof of what I say, or offer it if someone questions it. In fact I beg anyone who differs with me to prove me wrong. I do not mind being told I am wrong. however, i dislike intensly being wrong. Do not take what I said wrong. I am definately NOT calling you a liar. You have made a statement ot prove that what you believe is right without any qualification. Respectfully yours. I know that you who have commented here are good people. I believe this because if you were not, you would not comment. I know what I am about to say is off topic some. It is also on topic some. I have relatives who go back some 300 years in this country that I know of. There are others that may go back more. Many of them have fought and lived or fought and died to protect our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness each of which has sub rights such as the right to your own opinion. I, personally would fight and die to protect your rights also and mine. If you are a patriot, you will do the same and we can never have any quarrel wih one another. Alex,...I searched this incident in Houston Tx. Seems this guy Calderon is in big trouble if the allegations are true. And if they are, then throw the book at him ! He may well have abused his right of carrying a concealed weapon and will have to pay the price. Please do not classify the other CCW as a menace for this person's alleged action. Unfortunately, there is a horse's ass in every crowd.
Clarence the killing Alex mentioned did happen, but I am fuzzy on the details and don't remember where I saw, but there was a video of this guys arraignment. Didn't give particulars, just bound him over on charges of murder.
Still and all CCW holders have proven to be thousands more times law biding than cops, and hundreds times more law abiding than the average citizen. Oh, not my axe to grind either, as I am not a CCW holder.
Hey Clarence, Keep the faith, ole Sheepdog. ...You know, Alex's comment about "people are just itching to kill somebody". Well, he may have a point. I certainly agree with him. Those people are called criminals, ones who prey anyway they can on other people. Who is judging who here now ? It is rather simple. Either a person wants to protect him or herself, or a person wants to wait for the police to protect them. My personal option has always been the former. No one knows the facts more then the person being robbed, raped, or murdered at that moment in their lives. They can take the judge, the jury, and the revolving door of "justice" and show them the door. Paul

Yeah, I wrote about Calderon in the article before this one. (Violence Policy Center dancing...) Calderon messed up. He admitted it, and his father admitted it. The Alexes of the world want to use Calderon to smear all law-abiding citizens who carry. That makes him a bigot. It also makes him gone from this comment section, because there are minimum standards of intellectual honesty. Wendy's gone because there are minimum standards of courtesy. Hope those two don't own guns, if their behavior here is any indicator, but I wouldn't pass a law about it.
Fools will step in front of speeding buses to save "Fido", but a man should not do what he can, WITH THE MOST EFFECTIVE TOOL AT HIS DISPOSAL, for his children's lives!? Give me a break! Anyone who thinks this man, or any other person in like situation, did the wrong thing, there are hundreds of air flights out of the United States every day. If anyone recalls, the Commercial Appeal printed the names & addresses of every CCW holder in Tenn., leading to the law forbidding this to be done.
Wow! This is my expression. Not really from being shocked by a story like this, but rather that a journalist can twist and skew facts to make an incident seem one way or another. I know it is the way of the world, but you'd think there would be enough people to stand up and say, "If you want to stay in business, do some actual reporting. Write the story the way it REALLY happened. Anything less will not be tolerated by your readers."
I guess there are still too many people out there who can't see right in front of themselves. Kind of like the shut in that has watched so many soap operas, that they finally start to believe it is true.
