Austin Tea Party well-attended, well-intentioned
Austin, Texas––Yesterday afternoon was warm and sunny, perfect weather for an estimated 5,000 people (according to Austin's KXAN) to exercise their First Amendment right: “peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” The grievances in this case were runaway federal spending and a rapidly-growing national debt. However, the protest lacked certain attributes necessary to engender redressment.

Yesterday's Austin Tax Day tea Party was attended by 5,000 - 8,000 citizens who believe in less federal spending and taxation. It was a great success in that the rally awakened the silent majority of our country to become involved and to understand that many others like themselves are interested in furthering the prosperity of this nation through adherence to our constitutional principles.
I'm glad to see the stats on attendance as I'd seen the report on national news that only 1500 attended. Also, I like the idea of getting the message out as AA has. I recently read the AA handbook, and it seems a reasonable model to follow. Many, however, will take offense that "Gun control is an addiction." So - LET 'EM! "Venting" and being surrounded by like-minded people felt good. Assembling peaceably felt good. Getting off my butt politically felt good. Being called a potential terrorist by Janet Napolitano felt like being hit between the eyes with a lead pipe. How quickly democracy can turn on its own and began to eat them. Without a voice, we will be devoured by the likes of this administration that sees itself so powerful as to be invincible. How arrogant can you get! They think they're ruling by Divine Right as Kings. I thought the Clintons were arrogant. They were meek little kittens compared with this bunch. Hillary seems like a conservative (albeit a maladjusted one) compared with these self-promoting, self-righteous, blood-thirsty, self-proclaimed left-wingers.
My sister & I attended the Austin Tea Party & I can tell you it was a very large crowd. The speakers were great & energized. It was a great event, well planned. There were some really great signs. People came from Houston area, Dallas, West Texas and San Antonio area. We intend to attend everyone that we can in the future.
