'Assault rifles' found in Austin dumpster, or media bias?

KVUE reported that on Tuesday, police found “assorted parts from assault rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition” in a dumpster in north Austin.

However, the Statesman reported that police found “eight upper receivers for an AR-15 rifle” and “about 2,000 rifle rounds.” KXAN reported that while “AR-15 receivers” were found, there were no parts with serial numbers.

Makes me wonder who dropped the items in the dumpster and what the motivation was for doing it. Also, how did the police become aware that the uppers and ammo were in the dumpster?

It smells to me like a drug lord had the parts and ammo dumped and an anonamous call was placed to alert the police where to look.

Could this be a drug lord or cartel using our governments claims that weapons are coming from the U.S. to help along gun control legislation to further disarm the American citizens?

Reporters reflexively describe any firearm not possessed by the police or military as a "semi-automatic weapon", any collection of three or more firearms as "an arsenal", and any rifle whose configuration differs noticeably from my grandfather's 03A1 as "an assault weapon" or perhaps a "semi-automatic assault weapon". I guess that since it's no longer acceptable to to display their creative writing and fear mongering skills when writing about the racial or ethnic background of criminal suspects

Find a treasure trove of black-rifle parts and they call the pigs: why the hell can't a score like this ever happen to me!?

I would have SERIOUSLY pulled that ammo down for components. No telling if some sadistic soul would have stuck a serious overload in there. 8( I had a neighbor that accidentally stuffed a .30-06 case w/ Unique. The ejector on that old FN Mauser left quite a gouge on his cheek as the gun, um, came apart.
