USF scientists confirm two underwater plumes came from BP oil spill
USF scientists discovered two underwater oil plumes (see USF confirms plumes BP denied). The plumes were discovered in May during a six day research trip aboard The Weatherbird II. USF Associate Professor Ernst Peebles reported the findings publicly, BP quickly denounced that the two plumes were related to the Gulf Coast oil spill.
It was announced today that USF scientists have proof that the plumes definitely came from the broken BP well.
USF chemical oceanographer David Hollander released a statement saying, “What we have learned completely changes the idea of what an oil spill is. Typically, people perceive of a spill riding more or less on the surface of a body of water, but this shows the Deepwater Horizon disaster is a "three-dimensional catastrophe.”
