After a decade and 20 seasons of the reality TV show Survivor, host Jeff Probst understandably considered moving on to other things. But fortunately for his fans, Probst is "not finished with Survivor yet," and he will still be pulling hand-scrawled names out of a jar for seasons 21 and 22.
Probst is also hosting the special Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains season which will feature 20 returning cast members including Rupert Boneham and Russell Hantz, who just came of Season 20 as a formidable competitor. Hantz will be at a disadvantage this time around, however, as everyone is now on to his manipulative ways and he'll have to develop a new strategy. Heroes vs. Villains premieres on February 11, 2010.
Because of this special season, Probst told People magazine that he thinks seasons 21 and 22 need to be "something special" and that producers need to be "on [their] game and get very creative." He also said that a recent celebration of 10 years of the show helped cement his decision to return:
"It really hit me when I walked in to the party a month ago and saw the logos for the 20 seasons on the wall. That was a really great kick in the pants for me to say, 'Don't be embarrassed to be proud of what the team has accomplished.' Twenty seasons is a lot of television. I am very much aware that I have one of the top 10 jobs on television. I get it."
What do you think? Is Jeff Probst an integral part of Survivor or could the show easily go on without him? Let us know in the comments below.

Russell is not at a disadvantage. He has a HUGE advantage. Heroes & Villians was filmed 10 days after season 19 with russell last summer. No one knew who he was. He will go far.
Jeff Probst, in many ways, IS Survivor......
Didn't know that about the filming schedule, Steve, you have a great point! Thanks.
