Brittany Murphy, the 32-year-old actress who died suddenly last month, has had her death ruled an "accident" by the Los Angeles County Coroner.
In a press release (PDF), chief medical examiner Anthony Hernandez listed the cause of death as:
- Community Acquired Pneumonia
- Other Conditions: Iron Deficiency Anemia, Multiple Drug Intoxication
- How Injury Occurred: Drug Intake
- Manner of Death: Accident
A full autopsy report will be released within two weeks.
It was previously said Murphy died of "natural causes," but speculation ran rampant that drugs were involved instead.
Simon Monjack called paramedics to his and Murphy's home on December 20, 2009, when he found Murphy collapsed on their bathroom floor. Paramedics rushed Murphy to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and she was pronounced dead shortly after.
Murphy started her acting career at a young age, but got her big break in the movie Clueless, and went on to star in several more films.
Her longest running role, however, was on television as the voice of Luanne Platter on Fox's animated show King of the Hill.
