UPDATE: The Brittany Murphy cause of death has been released
Even though the autopsy has been completed, it may be a 5 to 6 week wait until the public learns how Brittany Murphy died. While the Los Angeles Coroner's office initially said it appeared Murphy died from natural causes, apparently the autopsy did not reveal any conclusive reasons for her death and the results will not be finalized until after neurological and toxicology tests are completed, which will take weeks.
A source also told Radaronline.com that the tests will be conducted on a small slice of Murphy's brain.
Los Angeles police are not ruling out that Murphy's death may have been the result of a drug overdose. Layman speculation throughout the blogosphere and Twitter are trending more towards her heart attack being caused by severe anorexia.
The star of Clueless and Fox's King of the Hill was found unresponsive by paramedics responding to a 911 call made from Murphy's home around 8 a.m. on December 20. She was declared dead on arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, who said Murphy had died after suffering severe cardiac arrest.
Murphy was 32 years old.
