Shades of Green Celebrity News!
PETA model Khloe Kardashian might have compassion for furry critters, but she thinks creatures with scales suck.
The young heiress used her home vacuum to capture a serpent -- by (honest to goodness) sucking it up.
Hollywood News shared the not quite so ethical-treatment-of-animals story July 3:
Apparently, Kardashian came home from errands to find the snake on the ground in her pool table room.
“I screamed like mad and I ran into the kitchen to call Lamar (Odom), who was asleep in our bedroom” she wrote.
“I was yelling at him to come downstairs and help me and he was soooo asleep and kind of confused. I said ‘baby! What do I do? Should I vacuum it?!’”
After sucking the snake up, she put the vacuum in the closet. She did not kill the snake. Kardashian posted a photo of the snake on her blog.
Kardashian then phoned best friend, actress Malika Haqq.
“She said ‘well, it can crawl out of the vacuum…’ Soooo I screamed, scared Lamar out of his sleep again and I think you can figure out why the vacuum now lives outside of my house,” said the reality starlet.
While we have to give her credit for quick improvisation and thinking and sparing the critter's life, we think calling Animal Control when lazy Lamar would not get out of bed and "be a man" (to help her corral the snake until help could come) would have been the better decision.
Let's just hope they don't have any mice or other rodents wander in... Khloe might be tempted to use other household convenience appliances used for hair to capture them.
[Think hair dryers, electric hot rollers, curling irons.]
*Shudder*
No word yet on the snake's condition or how it got into the celebrity couple's California mansion.
