Greet Street Development, a renowned Phoenix, Arizona-area based residential green building firm, is offering a series of educational workshops locally focused on green remodeling including the latest in government incentives, cost analysis of construction materials, green design, green rating systems, and overall best practices. CBS Evening News with Katie Couric aired an interview previously with founder, Philip Beere, citing this cost-savings remodeling program as a solution to help mitigate the national housing foreclosure crisis. Greet Streets has received additional national recognition on National Public Radio.

The international green building movement has been intensifying for various reasons including its benefit for counteracting global warming through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions due to the use of renewable energy sources and reduced carbon footprint and utility costs, associated with energy-efficient construction. Phoenix, AZ was the most recent host for the world’s largest green building event, the International Greenbuild Conference and Exposition, which occurred in November 2009, featuring keynote speaker, former U.S. President and Environmental Advocate, Al Gore. The U.S. Recovery Act has been a major boost to the green building industry regarding government installations as well as residences, offering homeowners tax incentive benefits for greening their homes. Moreover, additional federal economic stimulus programs such as Recovery through Retrofit and Cash for Caulkers are still being developed.

Green Street’s upcoming workshop on April 1 will be held at Arizona’s first LEED Gold-certified single-family remodeled home. More and more professionals are required to achieve LEED certification for their occupation, and this event helps satisfy that requirement. Many architects, building owners, building and asset managers, developers, and facility managers want a green building but are not sure where to begin. Green Street educational sessions are approved by the U.S. Green Building Council and also qualify for continuing education units from the AIA, ASID, and IIDA. Green Street courses qualify as the green building prerequisite education before taking the LEED Green Associate exam. Each workshop is limited to 24 participants and registration for upcoming workshops is available at this reference site.

Green Street Development represents a mission of sustainable development and is responsible for the first National Association of Home Builders Emerald-certified remodel in the U.S. and the country’s second LEED-certified single-family remodel. In order to stay abreast of the best practices of the dynamic green building industry including the flurry of new federal, state and city codes and incentives, educational programs of this nature are of the utmost necessity.
