Keri Caraher and Morgan the Great Dane.
One would not think that a dog breed, also known as the Gentle Giant, would be competing in Agility Trials. Not so. There is even a whole yahoo group dedicated to Agility Danes.
If you live or find yourself in the Denver Metro area this weekend, check out at least two danes who are competing in the NADAC Trial at Adams County Regional Park in Brighton, CO on February 27th and 28th.
Keri Caraher, who owns Morgan, #1 Great Dane in NAFA Flyball, will be running two Danes this weekend. Of course, Morgan who is the top titled Great Dane in Agility in the U.S., and will be trying to earn the last two "Elite Chances" qualifying scores required to finish off her NATCH title (NADAC Agility Trial Champion). She'll be the first Great Dane ever to earn the NADAC Championship title. Morgan is almost 11 years old, and has been competing since she was 1.
The other is Cheshire's XK8 "Shaguar!" Powers NAJ, call name K8 (pronounced Kate), who is 5 years old, and will be running in the Novice classes. This will be her third NADAC Agility trial. K8's mom and sister are also Agility titled.
It is truly amazing to see over 100 lbs. of muscular dog racing down the course.
