Taylor Swift is the country music representative in the Album of the Year field at the 2010 Grammy Awards. Fearless and its singles scored eight Grammy nods.
Here are some quick facts about Album of the Year nominee Fearless.
1. According to billboard.com, a record 10 of the album's 13 tracks reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart (not to mention an additional five songs that charted from the album's deluxe "platinum" edition). Only four were released as singles, but the rest charted thanks to digital sales at iTunes.
"You Belong With Me" was the biggest hit on the pop charts, reaching #2, while "Love Story" got to #4.
2. Swift wrote or co-wrote every song on Fearless. She wrote one tune with John Rich of Big & Rich and another with Colbie Caillat. The latter track, "Breathe," a duet between Swift and Caillat, is nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration.
3. In her record label bio, Taylor Swift explained her inspiration for the album: "I didn’t want to write songs about being on the road and being in hotels and missing your family and missing your friends. When I was like 14 or 15 and I would hear those things on an album... and I was always like, 'Ugh, skip!' I’m inspired by boys and love. Those are my favorite things to write about and I don’t think that that is limited to high school. I’d rather write songs about how I’m feeling and the relationship side of things."
4. Fearless has already won the CMA, ACM, and Nashville Music Awards for Album of the Year, as well as the American Music Award for Country Album of the Year. "You Belong With Me" won the MTV Award for Best Female Video, prompting the infamous Kanye West stage-crashing incident.
5. Fearless topped the Billboard 200 for 11 weeks and the Billboard country chart for 30 weeks.
The other four Album of the Year nominees are Dave Matthews Band's Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, Lady Gaga's The Fame, Beyonce's I Am...Sasha Fierce, and the Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D.
The 2010 Grammy Awards air on CBS on January 31.
