After typo, de Blasio back on ballot

Brooklyn City Council Member Bill de Blasio, a Democratic candidate for Public Advocate will have his name appear on the September Primary ballot, after being denied a spot on the ballot due to a typo.

The New York City Board of Elections met this afternoon and voted to allow de Blasio a slot on the ballot.

"Elections are about choices, not a game of gotcha," said Republican Public Advocate candidate Alex Zablocki this afternoon.  "Typographical and other technical errors should not deny any candidate the right to run for office and serve the public. I'm happy Democratic voters will have more of a choice when going to the voting booth this September and I hope all candidates can find common ground in calling for real election law reform for our state. Welcome back Bill!""

A rally with supporters is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday morning on the City Hall steps.
