Kevin Sorbo Plays Preacher for 2nd Time
As announced in From Hercules to preacher: Kevin Sorbo plays a pastor in new movie 'Three Times A Lady', actor Kevin Sorbo (Hercules The Legendary Journeys, Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda) was recently picked to play the part of a preacher in the upcoming movie Three Times A Lady. Sorbo has also recently been cast as a man with a calling to be a pastor in the new film What If, which stars Sorbo, Kristy Swanson, Debby Ryan, and John Ratzenberger.
Kevin Sorbo Plays a Preacher in What If
In What If, Sorbo plays Ben Walker, a man who walked away from his college sweetheart Wendy (Kristy Swanson), and his calling to be a preacher, in order to pursue a business opportunity. Fifteen years later he has a high-paying executive job, a trophy fiancé, and a new Mercedes, and he hasn't looked back. A family and church are the farthest things from his mind. However, God has other plans.
What If Comparable to It's a Wonderful Life & Family Man
While driving his new Mercedes outside the city, the car mysteriously breaks down. In a twist straight out of It's a Wonderful Life and The Family Man, Ben Walker (Sorbo) is visited by Mike the tow truck driver (John Ratzenberger) who claims to be an angel. Mike says he was sent to show Ben what his life would look like if Ben had followed his true calling. The next thing Ben knows, he awakens in the middle of Sunday morning family chaos as his wife Wendy and daughters (including Disney Channel's Debby Ryan) are getting ready for church, where Ben discovers he is the new pastor.
Sorbo, who has been in Nashville before for The Vinny Pro Celebrity Invitational, was raised in the Lutheran church.
