Gospel Artists Record Song for Haiti

A group of gospel artists organized by Kirk Franklin has gathered in Nashville this evening to record a benefit song for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Earlier this evening Nashville Christian artist Natalie Grant tweeted, "At the studio w/Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp and more. ALL proceeds of recording going to Haiti. Way to go Kirk, for organizing."

Later Anthony Evans, Jr. posted, "Last minute stop by the studio to hang with @kirkfranklin while he records @nataliegrant on his benefit song for haiti!! She is killin!!" He followed that up with, "Mary Mary just got here and they're about to let everyone have it. This song is so good!"

So far that's gospel artists Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Natalie Grant, Anthony Evans, Jr. and Mary Mary who are apparently involved in this benefit recording for Haiti.

The Christian music community has gathered to do benefit recordings before, most recently when gospel artists responded to the Samoan tsunami. A large group of Compassion International artists also gathered in the 1980s to record "The Cause - Do Something Now" written by gospel artists Steve Camp & Phil Madeira. The top artists of the day including Amy Grant participated in that recording.

After the terrible earthquake shook Haiti on Tuesday, Christian relief organizations around the world have been assessing the damage, organizing efforts and collecting funds and other donations to help the earthquake victims. It is no surprise to discover the gospel artists have gathered to donate their time and talents to record a song for the earthquake victims in Haiti. Stay tuned for more information!
