Google is photographing the treasures of Iraq's national museum and sorting them on the Internet for the world to see.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt was in Baghdad today for a ceremony announcing the partnership. Click here for the Associated Press account of the events.
The national museum and its contents were damaged during the aftermath of Saddam Hussein's ouster in April 2003.
Schmidt said it was important for the world to see the museum's treasures, which date back to the beginning of human civilization.
Google has taken about 14,000 photographs of the musem and says the images will be available online starting early next year.
