Phil Mickelson will play in the Bridgestone Invitational

Phil Mickelson will play in the Bridgestone Invitational Aug 6-9.

Phil committed to play in the event on July 28th. This will be the first time since the 2009 US Open that Phil will participate in a tournament. Phil tied for 2nd place in the US Open 2 shots behind the leader.

Phil has been absent from golf due to family related problems. Just over 2 months ago Phil's wife was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Then shortly after his mother was also diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Click here for an update on their conditions.

With so much going on, golf had to wait. On 7-10-2009, Phil said "As a professional golfer, competing in major championships, and winning them, is my main objective. But I've always said family is my number one priority."

With Phil Mickelson playing in the Bridgestone Invitational, it will be interesting to see if he decides to play in the PGA Championship the following week as well. Either way it is great to see him back in a tournament and we wish him and his family the best of luck.
