What is it that every golfer would like to add to their game? Ask just about anyone and they will be quick to tell you distance. Everyone would love to drive the ball over 300 yards down the center of the fairway. Unfortunately that just isn't going to happen for many of us.
But what if we could just add that extra 10 or 20 yards or more to our drives just by changing a club?
Most people don't realize that they are hitting the wrong club. There's a lot more to picking out a driver than getting the newest, biggest, most expensive must-have driver on the market. You need to start with yourself.
Your club-head speed is going to be a huge factor in this. It's pretty simple actually, the faster you swing the lower the loft should be. The key is to launch the ball at it's optimal trajectory to maximize distance. If you have too much loft you will sky the ball costing you distance. If you don't have enough loft on your club your ball flight will be low and may have decent roll but it will still cost you distance and make it harder to carry some hazards. For example someone swinging the club around 100 mph is going to want their loft to be 10-11 degrees. Many people have 9.5 degree drivers in their bag thinking they will hit farther than a 10.5 or 11 but if they don't have the club-head speed needed they will lose too much altitude on their shots, robbing them of precious distance off the tee.
Take a look at your own swing and what's in your bag--you may find that adding or taking away loft will be the simple solution to adding distance to your shots.
