Woods wins again, earns 70th career PGA Tour victory

Somehow, it feels as if we've seen this before.

In yet another display of golfing dominance, Tiger Woods overpowered Padraig Harrington on Sunday to capture his 7th win at Firestone Country Club and 70th career PGA Tour win, making him the youngest to ever reach that feat by a considerable margin.  Only two other golfer have won that many times on the PGA Tour; Jack Nicklaus won 73 and claimed his 70th at the age of 40, while "Slammin" Sam Snead won 82 times and secured his 70th at the age of 41.  Tiger Woods is 33.

Woods began the day a full 3 strokes behind the leader and multiple major champion, Padraig Harrington.  For most mortals, trailing a player who has won 3 of the last 10 Professional Golf Major Titles by a 3 shot margin would be a daunting task and a remarkable feat to accomplish on a final round.  For Tiger Woods, it was not only expected, but almost seemed routine.  Tiger came out roaring, playing the first nine holes in a blistering 5 under par 30, taking the lead over Harrington by two strokes.  The Irish champion did not wilt throughout much of the day; in fact, Padraig played his first 15 holes under par and gave as valiant of a fight as Tiger has ever seen.   Having said that, Mr. Woods began the day 3 shots behind; and ended up casually hoisting another giant trophy, collecting another million dollar plus paycheck, draining another final hole birdie in the final group, and obliterating the field with a winning margin of 4 shots.

Tiger will now look to continue his march through the record books and provide a sea of eagerly awaiting fans more highlights and memorabilia, as he sets out to conquer the golfing world next week in Chaska, MN at Hazeltine National Golf Club for this year's PGA Championship.  The last major of the year should have no shortage of viewership with the uncontested world's #1 player on such a tear.  For more information, please check out http://www.pgatour.com.
