November 5 -- Tiger Woods will hit the links in China tomorrow at 10:50 a.m. Shanghai time. That would be 9:50 p.m. Boston golf time, and you can watch most of the action on the Golf Channel beginning at 11 p.m.
Not planning to stay up until 3 a.m. to see if Nick Watney can maintain his first-round lead? Then power up the DVR and watch the action at the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions golf tourney at a more convenient time. Like, say, while you’re awake?
Who’s playing? Winners of various tourneys qualified for the 72-hole, no-cut, stroke-play event at Sheshan International Golf Club. Qualifying tournaments include the four 2009 PGA Tour majors, 2009 WGC events, 23 other 2009 PGA Tour co-sponsored events, and a bunch of others.

Marquee groups. Woods will tee it up with England’s Ross Fisher and Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee. Other groups of note include Irishman Padraig Harrington, American Paul Casey, and Wen-chong Liang of China at 9:40 a.m., and South Africa’s Retief Goosen, American Anthony Kim, and Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa at 9:50 a.m.
Kim’s nemesis, Australian Robert Allenby, will play with American Sean O’Hair, and Soren Kjeldsen of Denmark at 10:05 a.m., while Phil Mickelson’s 10:30 a.m. group includes Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, and China’s Yong-eun Yang at 10:30 a.m.

Tivo. You can set your DVR to record while you sleep. The Golf Channel will broadcast live coverage Thursday night through Saturday night, from 11 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern time. Or you can catch the replays Friday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
